Just curious, I've not paid attention much in past years, but has Toyota always advertised leasing the Tacoma? I can't recall seeing them do this.

Seems I've been seeing a lot of commercials pushing a lease lately.

Same. No issues. You are just generally lower priority than a buyer when finding a specific truck. There are ways around that though

I have to disagree, at least from my experience. Salesman made me drive something I couldn't afford. Told him what features I would like to have, pulled up my vehicle from the lot within 10 minutes. Of course though experiences vary wherever you go.

I happened to be buying just after they released the 2016 models, back when they were hard to find and very competitive to buy...in LA area...

Basically all the cards to make it tricky, but it all worked out in the end!:)

@George1441 said the tacos are piling up on lots near him. They can't sell them fast enough so maybe lease is plan B?

I also noticed that the last few times I've driven by the dealer. A lot of SRs and TRD Sports

Didn't even bother... Basically same price as OR and you're trading form for function...good idea ;)

Leasing a Tacoma is one of the few vehicles that it's a decent idea to do. The buyout is close to 10k less than what truck is worth. Same idea with my 4Runner.

Not true. Dealers will actually make more money on a lease Tacoma that is turned in at the end.

Lease term + certified preowned = huge profit.

I always recommend to my customers to buy the Tacoma out at the end of the lease and sell privately. They will get more money.
This goes for the Runner and Wrangler as well.

Same here. $289 a month and it showed a DC TRD OR in the ad.

+ tax and fees on a low mileage lease. Usually 8000/year.

Yeah, it's $2999 due at signing, 36 months @ $289 and 36k miles. $.18 a mile after 36k. Leases scare me so I wouldn't do it but if someone was in the market I can see how it would be enticing.

I could trade my truck in and come close to those numbers, if not a little less a month. *over 48 months.

I totally get it. If you're leasing to lease, I wouldn't do it...ever. I opted into it with the intention of purchase. The added benefit of credit building made it more worthwhile IMO

I leased my 4Runner, 39 months at 0.99% buyout is 24k. It's a trail edition with kdss, leather, etc. The way i see it I'm getting 39 months of very low interest, buy it out and finish the loan off at an interest rate I would have paid for the entire term if I opted to finance. If I don't like the vehicle in 39 months I can sleep easy knowing I can sell it easily for 34k (Canadian dollars)

The Tacoma I test drove (dclb trd sport) would have been very similar as far as buyout and retained value goes, it just didn't suit my families needs near as well as the runner.

I have never purchased a brand new vehicle for myself. We bought my wife's Sante Fe Sport new in 2014 but we're talking about a low twenties new vehicle. I've paid more for a used vehicle. However the older I'm getting and the more financially sound I am I find myself wanting to purchase a new vehicle next time around. I switch vehicles every 2 years typically because I'm not 100% content with a vehicle I buy because it's used and it has this or that that bothers me. I'm waiting to see what pans out in the small truck market at this point. There is a LOT going on and I don't want to find myself in a vehicle I'm not confident was my best choice. I'd hate to buy a new Tacoma then a month later Jeep drop a wicked Rubicon Wrangler/Ram/Hellcat incest truck sex baby and me be completely in awe of its no roofidness and 700 HP.
