I read the first page, then decided to make my comment.
I have owned 10 pickups in my life, and have driven a shit load more than that, prior to buying my first Taco in Dec. last year. I liked that truck so much I traded it less than three months later................ on another Taco. BOTH were 17s. One a sport, this one an OR.
Consumer Reports can go fuck themselves.

16 is exactly like 17 with tranny TSB.

    18 same also. https://toyotacarsmodels.com/2018-toyota-tacoma-trd-sport-package/

So there must not be a high percentage of people having ALL these issues people constantly complain about in here, huh ?

So are you saying people make the majority of these problems up to troll and get attention?
    This is directed @2016Tacoman

For example, do you think I'm making shit up?

I for 1 am sick of you insinuating it. If you have something to say then go ahead and say it.

The difference between you and people like @kerrdog is that he loves his truck and that's ok. I'm happy he does but HE doesn't insinuate people are making shit up.
As far as I'm concerned me and kerrdog don't see eye to eye but he's an ok guy simply with a different opinion...and that's ok.

Congrats on the new truck, l think the bad rating from CR is because of below average reliability not whether or not that people liked them.

Why would that mag article change NOTHING then ??? HUH ?
People have problems, the masses do not.
Its not like EVERY or the majority of tacos do. This site makes you think otherwise. Never said nobody did, that would be ridiculous ! Every car has issues.
    Understand ?

    No, I said that.
Its when people complain about stupid crap like holes that howl up fron for 6 months on end that can be capped for a nickel.
People think the glass is the weakest.
    Soy wiring is used.
Every differential is going tits up. On and on an on every day by we know the usual posters.

The glass is probably pilkington and there's no reason is " weaker " than anyone else's glass.
Soy wiring is not a Toyota specific thing and other manufacturers are/have been using it for a while now.
The howling plugs are a minor oversight and should not be the topic of conspiracy here
The diffs however are proving troublesome. I donno if anyone claimed ALL the diffs were going to grenade, I certainly did not.
My point is yes there is dumbass complaints and unreasonable people but the "same posters" are also the ones that have their shit together and getting run though the terrible customer service machine. Maybe I speak with a bias but I am a prime example of Toyota being difficult to work with and dismissive in the face of obvious issues.
I agree totally, he'll im guilty of it occasionally but I ask you to try and look objectively at some of the people "whining" or complaining over nothing. Some of them, even repeat posters, have problems that could be solved with answers and understanding on Toyota's part.
    I've said it MANY times
I'm not surprised nor am I disappointed about a new model having problems as nearly all manufacturers do, but what is most disheartening and infuriating is the piss poor customer service that ensues.
Not everyone has a bad experience but I promise there are people here, some of them " repeat offenders" that have.

NOT the navigation. The MAPS in the navigation. The Nav always shows me exactly where I am. Just that sometimes Im on a road and it doesn't show the road. Its ridiculous.
