Will the "twist-set" lock thing work with the smaller slide-out key from the "keyless" fob? I only ask since it looks like a laser-cut key and I thought that might function differently than a regular tumbler style key. Really thinking this cover might be the one. Thanks for all your input!

The bolt lock that comes with the cover will not work with the 2017 keys. Not even the actual tailgate key. I ended up purchasing the encore and was a bit disappointed. I called extang and they said that it will not work and wanted to send me a set of keys that I could use for the lock. I declined and ended up keying it with my Camry keys for the wife's car since I already carry that on my key ring. I did not want to carry another key if I didn't have to. This defeated one of the main reasons why I bought the cover in the first place, but other than that, I've been happy with it.

That's kind of what I was expecting. Thanks so much, Jaggerbub, for the helpful info. I think I might still go with the encore, but now I know what to expect. And thanks to everyone else for all the good info also. There are almost too many options to choose from when picking a tonneau cover. It is making me go cross-eyed o_O

On a brighter note, I picked up a full size fridge for my parents yesterday evening and removed my encore for the first time. Came off in less than 30 secs. No clamps to twist off like my first solid fold 2.0 model and reinstalling took less than 30 seconds in complete pitch black conditions because everything just latches back into the siderails. Nothing to clamp down or line up. Everything just falls back into place. Easy peasy. Now I I'm really glad I went with this cover and not another solid fold to replace the defective one.

it works with my 2017 key but i'm in a MT truck. i have it 'programmed' to use my main ignition key... works perfectly as advertised. the key is a regular remote key, not a folding smart key.
