You can check by vin, but the trans cooler should be located in front of the a/c condenser, just behind the grille. It will look like a small radiator. That's where I'd check first.

You should have a 27F battery if tow package, as well as upgraded alternator and trans cooler I believe

    Normal packages have 24F's

If you are still unsure, the parts dept can look it up for you, they will need the last 8 of the vin and they can tell you what all factory stuff your truck has

If it has the coolers up front, it should have the tow package.

this is not correct. tow packages don't upgrade the battery. the alternator yes, and the Trans cooler for automatics.

No, online info will provide general info. The dealer has a more extensive database to look up info. As has been noted the main components provided by Toyota in a tow package include a transmission cooler; hitch; higher amp alternator, and, probably, a larger battery. The trans cooler is probably the most tell tale sign. Look over the hitch and see if you can spot a part # or other marking. Also, see if you can spot the alternator part#; it's on a metallic sticker about 2 inches inward of where the alternator 4-prong connector snaps in.

under the hood from this thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/imminent-cooling-failure.476201/
this thread also points out that there may be an issue with a cooling hose rubbing a steel support- something anyone might want to check also. I believe that since my truck does not have the towing package, no problem for me- never definatively answered, but it seems like the cooling hose in question is part of the towing package- hope this helps

Does it have the 4 and 7 pin trailer connectors next to the licence plate?

I would generally say you have a factory tow package.

The 4 & 7 pin connector comes with the tow package. Also if the dealer had added a trailer hitch it should be a aftermarket and would have a manufacturers name on it.
