He's got a point. It really depends on where you live and what you plan to do with it.

That's why I suggested an overnight test drive as some guys are able to put up with it while others cannot handle it.

Not yet, it went down the assembly line 2 weeks ago so it should not be much longer, Dealer said if it stays on schedule it would be at the end of the month.

Just curious, what are you using the bed for?

When I got my '16 4x4 SR5 I was looking at the OR. I decided the extra 8k the dealers wanted wasn't worth the gimmick push button "you'll never get stuck if you push it" and the locker. Only thing I wish I had was the locker. It would have got me out/through a few situations where I got the SR5 stuck. Thank goodness for gear and buddies.

The sport doesn't come with a rear locker, the OR is much more capable off road. I took the manual over the auto and love it. Also the 4:30 rear axle ratio is perfect.

It's a lot easier to put a topper on a pickup than it is to take one off of an SUV.

I will never go off road. I'm 50+ and really wasn't into that 30 years ago. I was wondering, however, if the ride was vastly superior in one over the other. Otherwise I would be leaning towards a well-equiped sr5 with the towing package and probably a set of Sumo springs to help with towing my camper.

Yeah, I've always had a "topper". We call them caps here in New England.

My first Tacoma was a 2011 SR5. LOVED IT. Dont care for bells and whistles. Would have done it again but I wanted a MT so I bought a sport.

I now have 4 ways (knob, touch screen, steering wheel, voice command) to turn on the radio. That's just stupid. At least the hood scoop looks cool.

I'm just MT'd out. I even had an '83 Chevy short bed with a three-on-the-tree. (about five of us on this forum know what it is)

Offroad stock suspension rides like "butta", probably the smoothest ride on or offroad of all the stock setups.

I did not know this. I guess I'll have to opt for getting my nutz cut.

OR I'll just hang with my trouble free, fully boxed frame & bullet proof soccer mom T4R.

All the more reason to make sure people have an extended test drive, keeps people from coming a few weeks after purchase bitching about the shifting.

If I was going auto trans, I would take the SR5 or Limited just to avoid having the graphics and "aggressive" styling of the TRD models. I like the looks of the SR5 a lot better than even the TRD off road.
