sounds like you have an awful dealer, this is the plus of living where i live we have 5 dealers competing for customers all within minutes of each other. My blazer has vacuum operated 4wd and i got tired of chasing leaks and replacing actuators. Replacing vacuum switches that fail pulling gear oil into the HVAC and killing it all (yeah dont ask) i decided to give electric 4wd and toyota a try.

Also I live on forums for my various vehicles, TW is by far the most active forum i have been a part of so far. I'm going to go ahead and say it's sales volume related. since the rest of my cars are niche vehicles at this point.

Always liked the G8 but finding one has been hard. Personally would just go with a Chevy SS or find a newer "Caprice" used from LEO auction and mod. That blazer should sell quick. And the Nova, you better fix her up, she deserves it.
4wd shouldn't bring any issues with the new gen. Was just at Centennial the other day for like the 4th time this week, whole power steering ass. being replaced, valve cover gaskets too with intake gasket, and tranny full flush with new filter. All happening Monday at Ed Bozarth, got a friend doing it that works their.

Why is it weird? Some guy said his Tacoma rides better than a full size GM. I have owned both so I opined to the contrary.

    Why? Does it bother you?

And yes- I watched the Tech do the TSB update.

    alright man, i'm impressed:
    1) knows what a G8 is
    2) knows what a current Caprice is and who it's available to
    3) knows that all 3 cars are related
We will probably have to hang out at some point lol. The Caprice is the best deal that nobody knows about especially if you can find a non-service 9c3 if its a 14+ you got to jump on those

I'm confused, you had all that work done to your Tacoma at Bozarth or Centennial

lol I do. Thinking about just get a Caprice as the next vehicle for a DD since I'm going LT with my taco real soon, maybe figuring out a MT swap too. Whole family is LEO so I know what cars are being used and which ones to avoid lol What confuses me is why Holden is selling the Caprice and the Commodore at the same time? Maybe I'm missing something but they are technically the same car, right?

Had to purchase parts from Centennial, closest to me and just so happens my friend works at Ed right off 95 and Ann. He'll be disassembling and re assembling the truck to add the new parts in one of the Chevy bays on Monday.

ahh makes sense now, on the truck

The caprice in AUS is the high end model it's essentially a slightly stretched Commodore traditionally with the higher end fitment options. The commodore range is from "entry level" SV6 to performance HSV models. Obviously here in the states the PD only cares about space and wheelbase so they get an ultra stripped down longer wheelbase commodore basically. 2017 the AUS built commodore/caprice ceases to exist. That also ends the US Caprice and SS models so what ends up at auction is all that will ever be. The SS was cleared out of the dealers earlier this month for 20% off MSRP so they were $40k. around here the Caprice's that have gone to auction have sold for more than any other places i have seen. The last one I saw at auction went for 18k with 102k miles which was insane money IMO. For that I would just go take the extra hit and get an 70-100k mile gen 2 CTS-V for a few thousand more.

Sadly for our life we needed a truck for the dirt bikes and jet skis(rough life, i know). This Tacoma was essentially the same price as a new SS at the sale price but the one thing to keep in mind is the cost of and availability of parts. you will regularly not be able to get parts and you pay a premium for those parts because AUS. Also rare car means after market parts cost a ton. I actually imported a 2013 HSV Maloo dash and converted my 2009 (series 1) G8 dash to a series 2 HSV. I also have been stock piling parts that i know will become unavailable. I have also owned a 2005 GTO and know what happens to common break items. They run out and they are gone forever or some Chinese co makes a crappy knock off that you have to keep buying.

my G8 is a 1 year only color they made 1,111 total. IF i had found a GXP i would have bought it issue was in this color only 56 were ever made the way i wanted it optioned it would have cost me $15k more than I paid for my GT in 2011 so it would have cost too much as well. the G8 was only made for 2 years but i believe they made about 30k total. the SS was made from 14-17 but i believe there are less than 10k total.

Ah now I understand, I thought the Com looked shorter.

Shit than I've got to get on finding one. I bet I have connects that can hold one for me at a LEO auction. Interior stuff really doesn't matter for me because I could just jerry rig up things and make it work, that's why I wanted a stripped Caprice. Yey the GXP is pretty nice but I get you wanted that specific color. The CTS-V is nice but I think the Caprice/SS low wide body type is way nicer. Damn all those toys and you're still living on Boulder, planning to move anytime soon?

90% of the interior parts can be swapped from a g8 to a caprice so you can get a 9c1 or 3 and basically convert the PD parts over to civilian models for fairly cheap if you find a wrecked G8. If you end up with one I run a FB group with about 200 other local holden owners.... we can get you set up lol.

Nah i love it over here, I'm in a really nice pocket. People believe the area is bad but i don't feel it really is at all been in the same spot for 8 years with no issues. live in a gated community no real problems. If anything if we were to move it would be to downsize the house, 2100sq ft 4 bed room, in favor of land with a shop out back. like farther into the older parts of henderson. Plus i get to walk over to see the monster trucks etc where I am now lol.

Maybe I will hit you up on that, it won't be soon though, dropping around 8k within the year on the Taco for LT front and rear.

Sounds like you've got a nice spot, 4 bed 2100 is huge for 2 people lol And yey being within walking distance of Sam Boyd is pretty cool, I dont think Im going to the finals this year, to much happening because it's B-Day time on the 26th so the whole week is mine!

Edit: seems like you got quite the following on the thread right now

    lol have to make time
lol have to make time for monster trucks although the tickets for saturday have gone insane. My buddy lives out by you and just bought a gen2 with LT and S/C sold his GTO that had a mountain of mods so he could buy the gen2. hasn't ever even indicated that he missed the GTO in any way.

yeah the house is a bit big for 2 people that sleep in the same room. i bought it with my brother in 09 and he moved away and i bought him out. back then we needed a big house to stay far away from each other to prevent a homicide. now that's no longer important but each of the dogs do enjoy having their own room.... thats right we are those people.

Not at all. I just wouldn't frequent a forum discussing a truck I hated. THAT... I find weird.

That aside, you've provided zero proof regarding your assertions regarding ECT outside of an opinion. While I don't doubt you had issues with your Tacoma, I don't believe you had the TSB performed and that while driving with ECT mode on you had the SAME exact shift issues as in Drive. ECT changes shift points and throttle response. Drive does not. This isn't my opinion, it's FACT.

Again, ECT is a non ECO mode. It gives you access to the Tacoma's full power-band. It's comparable to my 4runner. In drive, the Tacoma feels bogged down and has a few dead spots while climbing hills. I guess we can agree to disagree on this one.

I didn't hate it. I refused to pay $38,000 for a vehicle for so many shortcomings. I bought another truck. Big deal. Life is not over, Tacomas still sell, and they make great casual trucks.

I guess owner proof after 14,000 miles is not enough for you. It's all 'assertions'. Trust me pal- 14,000 miles is not an assertion. My dealer experience is not an 'assertion'. Look at at the other guys that ditched 'em. The turd gen is a dog. Sorry to stick a pin in your bubble.

No bubble here, you are the one driving a Silverado and posting in a Tacoma forum.

Sounds like you miss your Tacoma since you are still active here.

It's okay man, you can admit it. I wont judge you.

We both know the Tacoma is the better truck.

So question, I know when the air is set to auto and it's above 75 degrees ambient it auto enables a/c and recirc. I want to turn this off it drives me a bit crazy I hate musty air and these 2 options cause it. I live in Las Vegas it's almost always above 75. It's 92 right now
