Same here. If it involves a move, then some money from the house sale will help transition the move. Like you said though, in the long run it'll be better. Especially for you if you have kids. I told my wife she'd leave me if I went to days. She'd have to deal with me way more than she's ever had too before.

Sixth 12 this week! After this, one night off and back for at least 5, possibly 6 more!

Last spring break due to everyone being off, travel and kids, I got approved for double time (over 60) and worked 13 straight 12s. Twas a very good check. Uncle Sam liked it too, so much he took two scoops

Man that's a lot. Most I've done is 7 days in a row and I was out of it by that last day.

    Adds up nicely!

I say I don't want to do it again but I would... They are very strict now on double time.

Oh it adds up wonderfully! Helps me keep my bills paid way ahead and more money for my Taco!!! Finally getting to a point that I'm actually able to do a lot more to her!

Drawbacks of salary. More you work, less you make.

Truth. Everytime I'm due for some mods I'm always the go to guy for OT

Wish I could say I volunteer. But I'm always on mandatory OT every week so no need to volunteer! Gotta love automotive production!

I only have 6 hours of OT built into each pay period. But any time I work outside of my shift is automatic OT. Regardless of hour accumulation.

My normal schedule is 48 hours a week. Four 12s Monday thru Thursday nights. So at the bare minimum, I have 8 hours required overtime. And still have 3 days off. But here lately my work weeks are no less than 62 hours a week and up to about 77 hours a week.

I'd like that schedule... I work every Friday and every other Saturday... My training period when I first got here was Monday to Friday 6 am to 1430... Man I would loooove that again. Only lasted 4 weeks.

I love my schedule. It won't always be that schedule. I'll eventually rotate 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off. That's for a 2 week time period. 48 one week and 36 the other. Working every other weekend. But that's a long time away. So I'm gonna milk my schedule now and bask in the enjoyment of having the perfect schedule to fit my life.

Absolutely. The biggest drawback to mine is everyone wants to do stuff on Fridays and my working Saturdays:rolleyes:. My wife had to convince people I was real... Now, when we want to go boating on a Monday or Tuesday... It's empty so that's nice. But I'd prefer more social time on weekends. Hard to get some of my friends to stay out on a week night haha.

My wifes uncle did it for 30 years. Retired a few years ago. Still stays up all night according to his wife:eek:

It's called getting your foot in the door. Just make sure there is upward mobility. I've passed up 4 dayshift positions in the last 1.5yrs. The first one I wouldn't have gotten. The last three for sure. At least two more coming up in the next 9 mos.:boom:
