This is the best result you could hope for. Is there enough room to cut the pipe and sleeve it with a rubber hose and clamp the two sides? If so, this would be a "permanent" repair.

Dude, and again you cut the plastic cover? Couldn't you take it apart?
If you are that handy I would take it somewhere to get it fixed before you set that thing on fire or totally ruin the truck.

Don't mean to be rude but I really get irritated when I see things like that

Ok just an idea!!!! get a small screw with a rubber or copper washer and screw it in that hole. I think it might work

That is a good idea. A small sheet metal screw, maybe coated with JB weld. That thing would be permanent!! Thoroughly clean around the hole and ruff it up with some coarse sandpaper to help the JB weld bond.

well that was lucky but.................. that lovely black cover you hacked open is NOT a cover! Its part of your oh so special black box a.k.a the evap\hvac system housing and its sealed for a reason. I have no IDEA how your heat and A\C will function being in "open air" everything.:bananadead:

Better have saved the "Cover" thangy so you can glue it back together. interesting approach :sawzall: Like i said before aluma-weld follow the link.

If it was my truck, I reckon you have several months before you have to address it seriously. Bypassing it is my old trick when the heat is not needed, not sure where you live.

Ok, I have to jump in on this. You hacked up the HVAC box to gain access to the hole. We already know this. That hole is right into the heater core. Your heating and AC are both going to suffer until you have the whole thing replaced. Not going to be a cheap repair unless you plan on Mcguyvering something up. And like mentioned before, I also advise you to have someone assist with the repair based on the destruction here. Good luck.

Hence why I think it best to put it off unless and until he has the time to do it fully (including replacing the box) or pay someone. Either way, do it once and do it right from here on out..but the bypass is a get-by that is at least viable short term presuming he isn't in a cold climate.

I had to replace the heater core in my F150. Was an absolute nightmare. Whole dash had to come off, and countless screws and trim tabs. I would recommend paying someone to do it. Worth it in the long run unless you have a buddy who is experienced with such a repair.

Good luck with the fix! Hope it all works out. I hate when I do shit like this. I tend to blow a mental fuse and lose my mind.

A piece of plastic and some epoxy will fix that hacked box right up! Just need to seal it up.
