    Hello Everyone,

So stupid me was replace my passenger side Head light bulb this morning and the little piece of plastic that holds the metal retaining clip that holds the light bulb in broke.

So now I have a delemma that I need to solve, so I figured I would reach out to all of you for your suggestions.

Option 1: OEM Replacement stock Headlight Housing.

Option 2: Install Spyder Auto Pro-YD-TT05-HL-C Chrome Halo Led Projection Headlights with Replacable LEDs

I also have a few questions:

    1) if I go with option 2 do these Headlight housings provide better lighting or do they just look better then the factory?
    2) which projection lights really look best on a silver TRD Tacoma, the silver or the black.
    3) are these light housings the best product on the market?

go to candlepowerforums and the automotive section and read why aftermarket non-oem lights
are not ideal nor safe by any stretch. then do what you want

Dont you think that people who spend a good chunk of their free time talking about lights would have some pretty biased opinions on the subject? And what is so "unsafe" about a non-oem light anyway, I have them on my truck and when it gets dark out I turn them on to see in front of me. It's really not any more complicated than that.

Don't be that asshole blinding other drivers because you're "too cool to follow the law" and want to be "unique".

I broke this same clip on my passenger side. I used the rubber boot to push it down around the bulb as best as I could. It seems to keep it in place well (also put a spot of superglue on the contact tabs). I don't see any bouncing around when driving. Have you tried to secure it in there, or is buying a new headlight your only option?

    Well said, couldn't agree more.

On top of that, it's a good way to get a beating in some places...

    2010tacoma2tr,
I current took the metal clip and bent it to hold the bulb in along with the rubber boot.

As of right now this is working but I don't like things on the truck that could fail while driving especially the light.

That you very much though for the great recommendation.

    Naveronski,
    1) I am not looking to blind people and if lights are adjusted properly then you won't blind anyone.

    2) New cars have projection lights and they are legal every day. Just because a company makes them aftermarket doesn't make them illegal.

    3) the purpose of my original post was to get opinions to see what aftermarket head lamp assemblies people recommend. I am sure that every aftermarket headlight on the market is not illegal.

    4) Also just because it came from the factory doesn't make it perfect. There are a ton of items made on most cars that are far less than perfect. This is the reason aftermarket parts are made as people are looking for ways to improve there vehicles.

    Killerken,
I was in a similar situation. I chose to go aftermarket because I like the look and the projectors with 6k HIDs and they are very bright in comparison to stock H4s. Secondly, they were a less expensive option. Thirdly, I chose a black housing with a clear lens as a good contrast to white (which has similar viewing properties to silver). Hope this helps and good luck. IMG_9614.jpg

I hear ya, and I'm the same way. I don't drive much at night, so it may not be as much of an issue for me. I had some aftermarket headlights for a week maybe, before returning them. the light pattern was awful, and they didn't have adjustment screws. Any local junk yards close?

once you do find a solution, you can use your broken ones for an hid project, if so inclined :)

    I got these ones http://www.protuninglab.com/4lhp-tac06jm-ks.html

The quality is very good and they have a pretty decent cutoff. The high beams have a pretty strange pattern (kind of a big circle) but it's still plenty of light. These won't make you one of the "assholes" that blind everybody.

    Dimestore,
    Question regarding these lights,
Did you get the led day time running light option?
