I've done the math over 600 miles e0 and e10

I can find corn-free gas for about 60 cents more a gallon

I get better MPG with it, in fact surprising how slow the needle moves around town

the net results, however, is I still pay more overall for the miles I drive

so back to cheap 87 with corn squeezins, and just filling up more often

I wonder how much petro chemical fertilizer it takes to grow the corn for ethanol, and then add the processing cost to turn the corn into ethanol ???.... how in the world could growing corn for gas make any sense to anyone other than the farmer that, btw is getting tax dollars to supplement the seed AND the growing AND the fixed pricing set by the government?? Makes absolutely NO sense.

In essence, ethanol in gas takes MORE energy to produce than the ethanol provides at the pump and cost to produce is higher. That there is backward thinking.... at best.

Then we hear those same farmers up in arms against "socialism" in our government.

Get the ethanol out of the gas and ..../end rant.

interesting article above, but it still leaves me wondering, are they referring to "regular gas" as unbranded ethanol gas or ethnol free gas? hmmm......it would be nice to see that kind of study!

    None...yet!
On my 2001 Jeep Wrangler with straight 6 4.0L I would get 14-15 MPG's with e10 gas and 18-19 MPG's with e0 gas. It was actually cheaper to use the e0 because it penciled a few dollars less to go the extra distance with the more expensive gas.

In our 2013 Wrangler it did the same on either. I guess the computer was compensating so we ran the cheap e10.

Stock Off-Road with M/T. ~66/33% hwy/city. I keep it <62 on they highway and drive it pretty easy. ~5k miles total and Avg. 19mpg. Always 87. ~2/3 has been with top tier Exxon or Shell E-10. When convenient I'll get Liberty 100% gas and think I get ~1mpg better, but it costs ~$0.23/gal more so the math does not justify it, also I don't think Liberty 100% gas is top-tier. The handful of times I used cheap Martins (Grocery Store highly discounted w/ rewards) or Sheetz, definitely getting ~1 mpg less.

FWIW: Drivability? Maybe mental, but the 100% gas is a little better. But for a brand new, high tech v6 my valve train/injector system sounds like shit when engine is coming off load (Low speed/<2,000 rpm). And hesitation when on the gas ~1/2-3/4 throttle from ~1,900-2,400 rpm is bad. I'm having it checked out at the 5k service next week.

Have this as well---pretty sluggish around 2k rpm. I believe thats pretty normal for this engine based on what i've found here

Finding E0 is incredibly difficult these days, at least in my area. The pure-gas.org info is usually outdated and when it is right, it's usually some good ol boy, mom and pop shop and the gas is more expensive.

Don't worry about it, use 87 octane from any reputable name brand fill station and you're fine.
Almost all the big name stations are top tier which means that every station and every grade they carry must meet the top tier "standards"

I've been using archoil ar6200 in my Tacoma every few tanks and I use it in my race car as well. It supposedly offsets the negative affects of E10 among other things.

I was always trying to figure out what the difference was here in Colorado. That finally explains it. Always seemed like summer gas was running great compared to winter. I buy pure all the time now.
