Cops told me that thieves now steal a vehicle and park it somewhere for a week or more to see if it's being tracked. They then come back to get it a week or more later if it's not recovered.

I love the world. I'm starting to hate some people. Something that I've never felt before.

This is a better description. People are assholes. I live near Toronto so I have known this all too long. People don't care.

    Edit:
Not all people but some people.

So since this happened, let's talk about the insurance.
Will the aftermarket parts such as RTT, awning, roof rack, skid plates etc be covered by the home insurance or auto in the case of thief or accident?
Do I need to tell insurance on my next renewal that I have all of this installed on a truck 3 months out of 12?

This that and the other thing.
I have read a few threads about some peoples insurance companies covering for their plate bumpers and what not. it probably depends on the company/how good of coverage you have. I find it hard to believe they would cover aftermarket parts but I have no first hand experience with such things. if you told them in advance about the aftermarket parts they may cover it, but they will probably try to charge you a higher monthly fee or something like that.

You should be fine as long as you have some pictures of the gear, or receipts.....or a decent insurance adjuster. If for some reason they don't want to cover it, don't sign anything till your happy with the amount. Stand your ground.

This is a good question. My concern is my auto insurance dropping me because of it all. Some insurance companies don't cover "modified vehicles"

I'll have to look into this.

I have a pretty good record of everything. Hopefully I don't ever have to go back into it.

Well, I guess keeping all my receipts and pictures is all I can do for now.
@taczilla, please let us know how the insurance went for you, so we have some idea of what to expect if something happens.

Depends on the company. See: http://www.fsco.gov.on.ca/en/auto/forms/documents/oap-1-application-and-endorsement-forms/1071e.pdf

When I was with Wawanesa, all the aftermarket accessories and mods (whether electronic or not) were covered up to the $1500 limit. The broker offered additional coverage at $3 premium per $100. I filled out the OPCF38 form, sent over the receipts, and paid an extra $180 premium per year for $6000 coverage. Went through the same process with my current insurer, but they provide the additional coverage without additional cost, thanks to the discounts with my employer.
