    Hello,
First post here, been browsing a few weeks here gathering all the knowledge. My only truck experience is a 2000 S10 2WD. Spent the last 5 years with a Mustang GT that I will be trading in.

Since I had a (garage queen)Mustang I haven't engaged in too much outdoor activities(biking/fishing/camping) that I plan to do with a truck. Which is why I have settled on getting a new Tacoma.

I've got it nailed down to a DBCB, V6, auto (mustang is a manual and a pain in the city after 5 yrs).

    Short summary:
I will either get a TRD sport 4x4 or TRD sport 4X2 with Tech package.(price similar)
Main reason for 4x2...I live in the city, in central Texas with not a whole lot of areas close by that require 4x4. Plus this truck will commute me across the city daily. It won't see any dirt until the weekends if its lucky.

    thanks.

You kinda have to think practically about how you'll use it. When you do take it on dirt, will it really require 4x4? While having it is nice, it also costs more up front, plus it costs more to maintain and replace parts on.

Yup, that's what I was thinking. Plus the tech package will be more useful for my commute.

For the 6 yrs I've been in TX. (Austin area) the only real threat we had a few times was some ice on the overpasses.

I would get it loaded with premium and technology package. Then see what options u like. Go on eBay and get them cheaper. Some of the ebay buys come from a dealer CHEAPER!! I'd get the off road model. Higher resale and get a Stick!!

If you do this be sure you have enough headroom since these packages will come with a moonroof.

the seats have zero height adjustments.

Yep, I already sat in both and they both have plenty of space. I think my mustang with the seat all the way down still had less headroom compared to the one with the moonroof.
