What do you do for work?

Sorry, not trying to hijack this thread, but I have a question related to this in a way.

Is anyone in here a "resume expert" that works on putting them together for people?! Wondering if there is anyone like that, that I could ask to update and spice up mine. Time to update it and look at what's out there due to some recent events at my current job.

I'm willing to throw in some type of "donation" as well.

 

I know my old college has job fairs where they do resume workshops, so I assume there is a service like this out there.

Maybe check a local Junior College/University/College and see if they offer services like that?

I am a porter aka janitor working for global industrial services inc, also a mechanic on side sometimes, worked on vehicles since i was 11 yrs old. Also i know carpentry some, electrical, i plow snow every winter when it snows here in ny. But my main job is being a good parent raising my son.

 

Computer geek for a gummint agency. I could tell you more, but I'd have to shoot you.

 

CNC machinist for an axle/Drivetrain component manufacturer for big rig and military applications.

 

Currently a student for another month or so. I served 3 years in the US Army infantry, got out and I am finishing up my BS in wildlife and fisheries management and biology. I have mostly worked with the Wyoming toad in the summers and a few small jobs with grad students.

I am going to be working as a biologist when I graduate. Waiting for more info on the hiring freeze but I will be doing one of the following two jobs.

Idaho: Fish biologist working with chinook, sockeye, steelhead, bull trout, pacific lamprey and some other fish species.

Wyoming: Biological technician working with grizzlies, wolves, swift foxes, burbot and some native trout.

I am pretty stoked about what the future brings.

 

Field Technician for Caterpillar Corp. I primarily work for Caterpillars Power Systems Division, where I install and troubleshoot generators, Diesel powered, Gas powered (natural gas, propane, methane), anything from 15 kilowatt to 3 megawatt.

 

Apprentice Lineman, almost 3 years in.

 

As a 16 year old, I'm a US Soccer referee. Been doing it since I was 13 and I love it

If you have a tool and die backround you can easily roll that experience into machining for any of a number of manufactures. The top rate pay for CNC machinist at my job is $31 an hour. You won't be rich but you can support a family with it and usually the benefits are good. Depending the the company your with. Like any job you have to work your way up though. And many provide paid training/schooling for related positions in the company.

 

I'm in the IT (Information Technology) field, "Big IT" at large companies (10,000+ employees).

 

I drive semi's (Lorrys) for living. Not Over The Road crap, just local. Worse is I'll drive from my home terminal and drive 500 miles and back. I'm in the LTL (Less than Truck load) part. I'll haul a trailer with multiple items for multiple business's. Think of the UPS Ground guys making home delivers. I do that kinda, just larger equipment. Home every night and weekend off mostly. Going on four years now. Enjoy it overall.

 

I drive semi for a food service company(PFG). No over the road just local stuff. Shuttling trailers between distribution centers and delivering food to restaurants. It's a good paying full time job until I graduate college. I am also a full time student with a double major in environmental science and biology so between that during the day and driving at night I don't get much free time. Oh well at least my taco keeps me company.
