Can 5100's in the rear support 2 inches of lift from adding a leaf?

Bilstein 6112 front, 5100's rear with blocks, camburg UCA, 17" XD's with 285/70/17 AT 3's and a blackout front grille.
    Hello TW,

In the rear I have Bilstein 5100's and currently a 1.5" steel block. I know, it was a mistake from the beginning. My question is I just purchased a wheelers offroad add a leaf, and it was advertised as lifting the rear 2 inches. I've been looking for the specs on the shock to see if it can accommodate the additional leaf but no luck.

Will adding a leaf raise the rear too much and max out the shock? So that when I go over bumps I'll be hitting the max length every time, and possibly damaging the shock?

I appreciate all input as I am fairly new with lifting and shocks. 2016 DC LB with 6112's in the front on top notch for reference.

interested in this as well...my 3+1 stocks are tired and I just put 5100's on not long ago and was looking at a 2" rear leaf pack.

that much of an add-a-leaf is probably going to top out the shock as you suspect. You already have the 0-1" 5100 I would suggest selling them to another member and getting the 2-3" lifted ones. This would also be a good time to upgrade to 5165s in the rear.

Edit: For correct shock series number.

I recently installed a wheeler's 2" single aal, with 5100s in the rear. With my heavy camper top, I initially got 23.5" from hub center to fender, more than I expected. I'll have to check, but I think it has sagged a bit (as I was hoping). I haven't been feeling like I'm topping it out, although I'm not flexing a lot, just running it on rough back roads/trails. It rides really great, better than stock. I've been really pleased, despite a lot of the reputation of a rough ride from a single aal. I think it's a great option if you carry a load, and I'm glad I didnt get a progressive 3-leaf.

@Humboldt_Homie did you get standard length 5100's or the extended length ones? The standard lengh, yeah you'll over extend them, but the extended length ones can handle 2" all day long.

Nice, I don't carry a load regularly but wanted something more substantial than a stupid block for when I do. Also I might be towing the boat this summer and having a leaf secured in place seems more peace of mind than a block that could possibly pop out (which may be crazy but hey anything can happen)

I added 2 leafs to my 09 sport and they also arched them more. It did raise the rear of the truck a bit, probably at least 2 inches if not more. The 5100s are fine. It's been like this for 8 yrs. you should have no problems.

I had the 2" wheelers AAL and the standard 5100s in the rear. Wheeled plenty of times (even got on three wheels at one point) and it was just fine. IMG_0525.jpg

This is my favorite pic that shows the beefy stance.

I thought 5160s don't offer any more lift than 5100s. Just beefier with RR.

Conventional shock absorbers do not add lift just to clarify.
You just have to look in the Billy catalog and find the correct length & valving combination for your application

Right, and as far as I remember without looking through some PDFs, the 5160s are no longer than the 5100, so with the same aftermarket leaf packs or AAL, their lift will be the same. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    You are correct.

If you want longer ones you have to do some digging to find them. Bilstine makes them in a variety of length and valve combinations you just have to dig in the catalogs to get the right ones.
