How are you folks doing with these tires off-road and over the course of thousand's of miles? I have been calling some tire shops around the area, and a couple of them say not to waste time with the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires because people are coming back with abnormally low levels of tred-wear. Your guys thoughts? They aren't exactly the cheapest tire out either.

I haven't had any issues on or off road. I've had them for about 10k and mine seem to be wearing pretty normally.

I had some serious accelerated wear over the first 8k miles. I'm about to go on another 2,000 mile road trip and I'll double check the wear level when I get back. Even a few guys have pointed out to me how the tires look pretty worn already, and they do have that appearance about them.

So for me over the last 8,000-8,500 miles I have this to say: First inpressions were great, tire was cheap, ballanced well, super quiet on the road, and looked awesome. Immediatly lost about 2mpgs (Tires are heavy for the size and weight raiting).
Since I've had them on they preformed very well in the rain and on dry pavement. I am not impressed with these at all in the snow (so much snow I ended up going out and buying a set of studded snow tires for the worst part of the winter). They didn't grip at all in slush, the tread pattern would pack and not clean well, and was constantly in 4wd only cause the truck acted useless without it.
So right now the tires are all below 10/32 of an inch (just measured this weekend), so down about 4/32 of an inch from new. Legally can't run these past 2/32 here in NY. I honestly ditch tires around the 6-4/32 range just so I can get a $100 out of them when I sell them. So if they keep wearing at the same rate I honestly habe about 10k miles left in them (more if I want to push it).

I am on both Discount Tire and Falken's watch list for accelerated wear and both have said they'll honor the warranty on them once I get them down to 4/32 of an inch so guessing I'll get half my money back since these will only last 20k-25k miles.

I'm honestly going to replace them with Nittos or Coopers but I shall see.

That sounds awful honestly. I couldn't imagine having new tires that wear that quick. I wonder why these tires get so much love, besides the on-road manners and the (sometimes) cheaper price per tire. Back to the drawing board for me. lol

Just out of curiosity when were your tires manufactured?

yeaaaaah I mean the inital reviews on these were good, but it was before the first winter and I should have held off but they sounded promising. Did some offroading with them, they didnt like post snow thaw muddy fields haha There are some mixed reviews on these, I know some guys have decent mileage on them with minimal wear but theres a good amount of people with fast wear. Have to say though all 4 are wearing evenly and only got a hair louder since new

I'll check that later today, want to say late 2016 though, I ordered these on the Labor Day sale from Discount Tire Direct/

I wonder if the Falken warranty would end up covering the tires though? I mean if these tires are getting low enough in wear in such a short amount of time, I would think Falken would do something about it. That's ridiculous.

I was hoping they would take them back early, it seems like a bad run in the tire compound. But I think they are trying to get an idea of how long the tires last in the real world. Warranty states 55k miles, if the tire doesn't make it till then and I'm not abusing it then I hope they would honor it

What is a good all terrain tire for snow then? I was always under the impression that these handle the snow pretty well

    thanks will do!

there has been mixed reviews. I didn't have a good snow experience with these this winter, others seemed to like them. I had Hankook ATMs that I actually really liked in the snow up until they had 45k miles on them, others had bad experiences with them. I had Cooper ATPs that were pretty decent all rounders, they wore a little fast for me and the sidewall lacked that "wow" factor but were also decent in the snow up until the lost the sipping on them, around 40k miles. By far the biggest surprise was the Fierce Attitude MTs I had. These things were crazy good in the snow (ice wasn't the best).

Like slushy shit, low teens/20s these things were useless to me. Had a few slide offs the road. But it blasted through 2 feet of fresh powder. So i think they are really touch and go on what you are driving on

yeah i've been following your reports on these to. you're just ahead of me mileage wise and we are close in wear so i think we are going to wear these out around the same mileage. I'm thinking Nitto terra grapplers since those are similar price wise (just a bit more). Looking at Cooper St Maxx as well

Ya not sure. Kinda want a ST Maxx but that weight and a 10 ply tire isnt need on my 4 cylinder! Was contemplating on going back to a set of 265 75 16 Load Range C Duratrac's.

I did not have the same experience in the snow. These tires have performed great for me this past winter.

That seems normal to me, for a rear wheel drive vehicle with virtually no weight in the rear. I felt they performed adequately in 2WD. My only comparison is a yj w/33" duratracs...which was night and day compared to my old first series BFG AT's in the snow, and a jk with 32" duratracs. Although these vehicles are different, they are both light in the rear and needed to be in 4WD to start rolling on the snow filled streets.

255/75R17 they come in C load (d maybe) thats the only reason I'm contimplating them in that size. I ran 265/75R16 E load on my last tacoma, which was 4cyl 5 speed. It was def noticeable in terms of HP loss. I want to say I floated around 20mpg on the highway but the city really sucked and floated around 14-15
