Has anyone experienced sudden sunroof glass shattered while driving?
    This is my scenario:
Driving a 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road double cabin, that we bough in August 2016 straight from the dealership.
Vehicle is kept in covered garage all day/night.
We've had it for around 7 months, and it reads around 4,000 miles in the ODO
While driving on freeway at 65 MPH around 8:30 pm PST, heard a very loud noise, seemed like a tire had been busted, it was very, very loud. After a couple seconds, realized that the truck had not lost stability, which meant it wasn't a tire, but started feeling air breeze over the head, opened up the moon roof inside cover and pieces of glass fell down.
The moon roof was completely close while driving.
There was no construction in the freeway, nor driving under a bridge nor overpass, nor the road was bad (no bumps nor dips).
There was not a big truck/trailer in front, actually only two other cars on the side lanes but were behind.

Just trying to find out if anyone recently had something like this. I found a similar scenario with another Tacoma owner back in June 2010, but has anyone heard about this on either a Toyota truck or car recently?

BTW, there was no scratches on the paint nor a rock, nor any evidence that 'something' hit and slid away.

    Thanks for your input!

Did you happen to get your sunroof tinted? I recently learned that this can cause them to break.

EDIT: After looking closer it looks like there's no tint on it, since it's not holding itself together.

If it was tinted the film would prevent the glass from crumbling like that.

So I'm gonna go with no.

I have heard of that happening before. I recall hearing a story about a sun roof exploding for no apparent reason.I'm sure I read it on here or from someone/somewhere else.
    Definitely curious about it though.
Sorry to hear by the way

That would be amazing if the AC could do that.

Naw, the third gen has no power, just ask, so therefore it's not stressing the motor at all.

This happened to my parents' brand new hyundai Sante fe last year. Completely out of the blue. My bet is a misalignment in your truck somehow putting lateral pressure on the moonrise glass. If thats the case, there's a good chance that this could happen again.

There were a few occurrences over on the bmw e90 forums of their sunroof shattering. They assumed a flaw in the glass that eventually cause it to spontaneously shatter.

Hopefully Toyota warranty is more laxed, BMWNA denied most of their warranty claims and deemed the cause as road debris.

    1. The acoustics inside your vehicle PERFECTLY matched the resonant frequency of the glass, causing KABOOM.
    2. Very specific cab torsion/twisting forces applied at a very specific moment.
    3. A Rock.

I'm gonna go with number 3, but number 2 isn't totally out of the question. I could see hitting a dip at the right speed causing the center-of-mass to pull down while the front and back are "up" higher, causing the roof to bow and blow the glass. If they've replaced other owners' glass, I'm guessing they have some sort of idea on the forces it takes to achieve this and determined it wouldn't happen to many people.
