I prefer to have the smallest rim I can, which is now 16 since I have tundra brakes

Super excited! I'll be getting gunmetal, I've changed my mind so many times but I'm pretty sure this is the final decision

All in good time haha :turtleride:

Lol. Wheels are the hardest things to choose sometimes. I also prefer the smallest wheel I can. I'm not big on big wheels. I have 15's now and would only go to 16's to do tundra brakes like you did

    1/2'' is a huge difference..

You need to do more wheeling before spreading stuff like that around.

In the world of crawling. an inch is a mile man..

    285s are glorified 32s. No nearly a 33. a 295 looks massive next to a 285.

that said. 255s and 295s are almost the same. Probably 2mm difference at the most when i held mine up to a 295(both off trucks).

Seriously? I understand the difference between 33s and 35s and the actual difference there, but that's 2 inches, not 1/2 an inch.

    no its not.

Its 1'' taller not 2''. Its a circle and the hub is in the middle of that.

just like all the people on here that go from 32s to 33s..thats only 1/2'' difference or 31s to 33s..only a 1'' difference.

1/2'' can be the difference between making it over something, banging skids, or getting stuck.

Offroading is a game of inches. The more trail time you get, the more you'll understand that. Especially with our IFS.

Oh, so you're going to the center of the hubs. My bad for the misunderstanding. Then It does make more sense for a 1/2" difference to make a difference.

well..thats how all tires work in terms of gaining/loosing ground clearance..

so yes. 1/2'' makes a difference. 1'' of gain ground clearance is huge.

Yeah there was a few obstacles in TN that I was scraping on literally everything but other trucks had 285's and they were fine.

Until you get into ~40"ers. Then steering ability and sidewall rollover becomes a factor with smaller wheels. But 99% of us Tacoma guys will never have to cross that line.

Exactly haha, plus I think the 17s are a little more expensive.
