Nothing wrong with your reasoning but I will add this. With the random orbital polishers they make today it is next to impossible to make a mistake. If you buff it dry with dirt in the pad then you will have problems. Follow basic instructions and watch a few how to videos and you are good to go. With a black truck it is not "if" you will need to have the paint buffed again, but "when". No matter how careful you are there will be some imperfections what will need attention. The added benefit is that you can use the polisher on other vehicles as well. Comes in real handy when you get ready to sell a car also. Makes it look very nice! No worries though, to each their own.

I replaced all my idler pulleys yesterday. Took about 15 minutes. Front is quiet again. Only took 100k to get at least one of those pulleys to finally take a dirt nap... figured I'd replace all three. Not have to think about it again till 200k.

 

Went and did a little exploring out here in Sylva, NC after i got outta class. Found a trestle and got lucky enough to have a train going across to snap some pics.
waiting to get some SCS SR8 wheels with some 285/70/17 (33") Nitto Ridge Grapplers, as well as find time to get my retrofits done. tell ya what, having a girlfriend sure takes away from truck modding, both time wise and money wise, but its totally worth it.
