My buddy does this for longer smokes. Puts a water pan or drip pan in the middle if needed.

I could get flagged for this, much like asking democrat or republican....but I'm asking nonetheless!

Lump for the charcoal smoker, pellets for the electric smoker, briquettes for the grill.

Lump for everything in the weber. Can't stand all the ash from the briquettes.

Just search Amazon for foodvacbags, all one word. There's a gabillion different bag options, but you can sort by most popular to narrow it down. Very highly recommended.

I'll be the dissenting vote on the lump vs briquettes thing. I use Kingsford briquettes exclusively in my Weber smoker because they're much more consistent and burn for a much longer time...used lump one time and will never use again. I only use the lump in my Green Egg.

Lump for the heat. Wood for the flavor.

I'd be interested to know how much lump you use for a smoke - say, for instance a pork butt. I just did one this weekend, 15 hours on the smoker and never had to add more briquettes. How long does a load of lump last for you @ 250 or so?

EDIT: I do find lump to work great for high-heat, grilling type stuff. Steaks on the Green Egg with lump charcoal are fantastic.

I use Stubbs briquettes, and have never had to reload my 18.5 WSM. My longest smoke was 225-250 for 10 hours.

and remember there's always a limit on how many bags you can purchase per transaction. your previous photo shows your store don't care

when they tell me theres a limit, i just load my first ones, go back to the store and buy from another register :anonymous:
