grey wire, buzzer yank, last click defrost, tack welded column, deckplate, intake silencer delete, led map/red overhead, led backups, underhood dual battery, onboard air, CS-144 big fucking alternator, big fucking alternator wiring, overhead rifle rack, airbag pistol safe, cab to camper 12 volt evap cooler, bug screen cab windows, onboard shower, solar panel and beer fridge!
Side windows actually flex quite a bit before breaking, Once had a maintenance guy help me into the work rig by pulling a partially open window out enough to stick his arm through and pull the lock. Course if an innocent who is chasing a butterfly into the cab of my truck happens to have a glass breaker...

On this tangent I thought it would be fun to jump on the hood of my friend's 80's precoma when he was driving at me and landed on his hood, but then rolled forward head first into his windshield making a forehead shaped impression in the middle of it. Lesson learned - if you have to get in through a window use your head! (j/k) lol

P.S. this happened when I was younger...

Windshields are a different construction - they have a safety film which holds the glass in place after it breaks. You would have to really work at it to get through. Regular side windows, back glass, extra cab windows are nothing more than tempered glass, one persuasive device and its in little bits. I wanted to make bug screens for my side windows and ended up with removable inside barriers that I'm still perfecting. Would be pretty hard to get through.

Just an anecdote - reading about breaking windows with body parts sent me down memory lane lol

I just got my windows tinted. when I was looking around for a shop to do it I asked them all if there was a "security" or hurricane film that could be applied to vehicle windows similar to what you can put on a tempered glass patio door. None of them seemed to think so. Hard to believe.

Alcohol will do that - my friend who's a mechanical engineer at Berkeley space labs got drunk on fourth of July two months before his wedding and screamed F the police and punched a police car unknowingly right in front of a LEO. Ended up spending the night in jail, walking a mile back to town, almost having to call off the wedding when his fiance tried to figure out who she was marrying, and pretty much hating his life. You can count the amount of times he's drank since then on zero fingers. Funny thing is that I quit long before him because I was the "wild" one lol.

OK so here's the thing... I know it's annoying as hell all this bugout banter, SHTF man. But I been beating around in a mini-truck for most of my adult life, living 'OFF THE GRID' man. I know what works and what doesn't basically. The thing I run into most in living my rubber tramp dream is that I gotta make it harder for people to mess with my getup. I try to be very low profile and do everything possible to increase security. It is an honest pursuit and not following fad. I appreciate all innovative insights.

def. appreciate the input. I'm about done with my steel tonneau and job box thing, got the cab tinted up, I might buy a cargo hauler and make that into a camper. It sure sucked driving the 5 and getting hassled in commi-fornia every time I pulled over for rest. This time I'm playing the work truck image and hitting up walmarts

Nope - you'd know lol. So what on here seems like you'd like to try it so far? If I really didn't want even an experienced thief taking off in my truck (provided they didn't have a flatbed) I would do the fuel line valve in a place that is very difficult to reach and have a lock box around it with a lock that can't be easily smashed. A lot of people bring extra wire to bypass electronic things when they want to steal a car I'm guessing, but I doubt many people bring extra fuel line or a way to patch it into the system to bypass a valve in the fuel line!

Hear ya man, I just don't like messing with fuel. I remember once someone talking about a dummy wire from the distributer on an old rig with the cap and rotor thing. These rigs don't have it but what about something similar - just an easily replaceable wire that don't fire?

I guess if you implemented a number of proceedures it would make it pretty damn hard to figure it all out. There was another guy who mentioned putting it in reverse with the transfer case in 4wd to prevent easy towing...

I think there's endless possibilities when you enter the realm of "have to pop the hood when I want to use my security device." I would say even a section of battery cable that can be removed easily when you leave your truck if you're not going to use it much and don't mind the computer resetting each time.

NAW - it's good for it. gotta keep that ecu on its toes. I'm trying to remember what George Hayduke would have done... I know one thing, in the right circumstances it's good to have a few tricks up your sleeve.

lol tear out the cable running to that aftermarket amp most dudes have and pray it doesn't melt. Or cut every wire that doesn't do something essential for the truck to run and splice them together.

YUP, miss the OBD 1 days when the only thing the computer did was regulate fuel to injectors based on 5 simple sensors, that's as involved as it ever should have gotten.

Yeah I love watching Motor Trend's Roadkill on youtube. Almost all the cars they bring back to life don't have elaborate computer systems so they can diagnose almost any issue they face - of course they both have a lifetime of experience to help them do that lol.

air, fuel and spark man, it's just a big pump. dead simple, it's just when consumer demand seeks to make everything seemless so nobody has to consider anything. press a button, a pedal, look at a screen, hear a voice, etc...

I gotta say I will probably never own a vehicle newer than the early-mid 2000's
