Did you say elk? The entire quartered elk is in the bed. This is my wife's bull from last year.

I agree with this. I ordered my bed cage from BruteForce in Fresno. Your going to spend more on a cage, but I didn't want to risk cracking the composit bed.

wouldn't bed stiffeners fix this problem?

I don't understand how this happens with bars.

As a non engineer, I would think that a 3 bar setup (like the relentless bars) would spread the load, apply vertical force, and keep the besides tied together.

They do spread the load, and place the force downward, but what happens when you take a curve, you get some horizontal force. Additionally, the bed may deform or buckle due to the weight placed on top of the rail. Everything gives when a load is placed on it, it's just how much it gives.... might be very small and doesn't matter, or it might be a lot.

Not saying it won't support the weight, I don't know. These composite beds have been around a bit, I'd see what some of the 2nd Gen folks are saying... might put in bed stiffeners just for piece of mind.

Are any of you guys using the annex? I plan on getting the Tepui ( can't remember which one) with the annex that has stairs inside. The annex will be important mainly for a chemical toilet...But I still want to stand. Does anyone know if somebody 5 11 can reasonably stand up inside with a mid or tall rack? That is the main reason I want to bed rack vs bars.

    Thank you!
I think I've decided to go with the RCI bed rack. It seems to fit my needs, just hard to spend that much on something that seems so simple. But you gotta pay to play and pay to look good.
