Well, what's to be impressed about? It's one of the cheapest shotguns made. Not that they should fall apart when you use them, but expectations can't be too high for anything they make. Hope you get it functioning correctly.

Well, have been wanting to get a revolver in 44 mag for a while now. Stopped by the LGS
Saturday. The one I was wanting to get was the S&W 629. However when I was at the LGS
I was checking out the used guns and seen a Ruger Redhawk, mmm. Ended up buying it..
The previous owner only fired it 12 times.
I did some research on it after getting home and it appears that it is a Redhawk Kodiak Backpacker
TALO edition. Thing doesn't look too big in the picture but it is a beast. Also it weighs in
at around 3 1/2 lbs o_O. Also picked up a CrossBreed belt.

I totally disagree with this as I have had 2 shotguns from Mossberg a 930 SPX and the 590 Tactical that were nothing but flawless in operation. Granted they are not top of the line and fit and finish could be better but still an overall excellent gun for the money.

Just sold both to fund the new Mossberg 590 Shockwave w/14 inch barrel and some other AR stuff.....

As you say, "for the money". Can you really say you got those mossbergs because of quality, performance, fit, finish, etc., or was it price point? When buying something based on price alone, it's hard to be unimpressed when it doesn't work well. I kinda expect cheap things to fall apart. I'm not sure what you totally disagree with, that they are some of the cheapest shotguns made, or that expectations shouldn't be too high to start with. Either way, I figure I know what I'm getting when I buy the cheapest thing WalMart has.

Not knocking it at all, just calling it what it is. Some work great, some don't. Odds of getting a lemon go up when price point is the main objective. yeah, I've seen a few army mossbergs that took a beating and kept on working. Seen a few puke up their parts the first time out too. I just don't expect much from them and don't see the reason to be surprised when quality meets price point.

I have a mossberg maverick 88 and the plastic part that you hold/pump to cycle rounds literally broke in half. That thing has been sitting broken in the safe since then cause it'll likely be more expensive to fix it than it's worth.

did yours have the bars on both sides of the gun going to the pump handle or just on one side? they had a lot of issues when they first came out and then they added a bar to the other side and I haven't seen many complaints since. I bought my wife one for valentines day a few years ago, and I would trade my 870 even for another one (granted my 870 needs a new carrier or something it doesn't cycle correctly 100% of the time, but the whole trigger assembly can be bought for like $60) I just shoot that 88 10x better

Mine has the bar on both sides. Not sure what caused it to fail other than it was cold outside at the time but nothing extreme.

I like my mossberg 930spx. Shot everything I put through it from light shots to slugs.

I've heard about the single bar before. They must have moved to a single bar to save $$ and then switched back. I got a Maverick 88 when I was 15, in the mid-90s, and it had dual action bars.

Gun has seen literally thousands of rounds in over 20 years of ownership and still runs like a champ.

It actually came with a holster the previous owner bought for it. On the holster it says
ROB LEAHY MAKER, company is SIMPLY RUGGED. Not really sure I like this particular holster.:notsure:

Also got 5, 33 round fun sticks for my G17 Tuesday from PSA. Hard to get in on the sale
for these since they sell out fast.

Does anybody have any suggestions for a sub $100 red dot? I'm looking for something cheap to put on my sub2k. 1x and quick detach ideally.

I know in that price range the quality is going to be garbage but I don't need a top of the line sight.

Not sure about quick detach at that price but I've heard good things about the Primary Arms red dot and have intended to pick one up myself for a while now.
