I think that that would be a fine idea. A little postive feedback from a TSB has got to encourage future fixes as well, I'd think.

I agree with DanielTaco, the TSB did nothing for the throttle response on my Tacoma, all it did was address the R to D or P to D delay as well as smooth out the first to second gear shift. MattFL, for what its worth I would go with a 2015 if you can find one with what you want. I almost bought a 2015 but decided the time wasn't right for me, looking back, what a mistake that was IMO.

I was not really liking how this thing shifted and I hated the delay from neutral to drive. The dealer I went to today did whatever the recent bulletin had them do and I am blown away by the difference in how the thing performs now. Shifting is much smoother and it goes right into drive. I'd say so far, I'm pretty happy with the recent fix.

The new Tacoma is a like a woman. It's amazing and awesome for a few weeks, then out of no where it acts like the transmission gets lost and confused. Sliping, harsh up shift lack of power... But then bam!! it's all gone and drives amazing. so crazy

Already got a wife, don't really need a truck acting like one either..lol

when I was there about 4-6 months ago for my last oil change there wasn't an update at that time, and I'd already had one update done when they fixed the low tranny oil issue that a lot of us had experienced. (and my oil was that 3/4 quart low)

I would call the service rep and ask if the update ended with the last 3 digits 300,which they have on system....there are rumors of update #3 but not confirmed

I would have to believe if their was a 3rd update, they would have done it yesterday. they've been pretty on top of things so far.

Would have to be identified as Rev 3, same TSB as others.

thanks for the update, hopefully you are right.

At what mileage did you start to notice your shifting issues? I have a 2016 TRD Off Road- 56,000. I am really starting to notice there is a problem now

I have had all the TSBs done to my 2016 transmission and quite frankly none of them made any difference. I love my truck but the transmission shifting issues drive me nuts. I wouldn't buy another Tacoma because of that. I'll keep this one until the frame rails turn to dust but I really do hate that transmission. Heaven forbid you have it on cruise because it gets real shifty on any kind of grade. Sometimes I say the hell with it and just turn it off cause it shifts so much. I've tried running it in S mode and ECT. It's still a PITA. Mine was also one of the ones low on fluid which wasn't diagnosed correctly until about two years into ownership (even though I asked the dealer to check it the proper way). From first to second in ECT it slips. Doesn't slip in normal mode. Next thing I'm going to do is change the fluid out. It's due for it so I'll see what that does, if anything. Thanks to the OP I will contact Toyota and tell them what I think of their transmission in this truck.

Update: Toyota actually called about contacting them concerning the transmission. I told them nothing short of rewriting the code for the transmission and ECU would fix it but I did appreciate them calling. They did say if anything came out of it they would contact me directly.....right. But hey, miracles do occasionally happen.

The TSB also didn’t solve my issues when I had my 3.5 auto, so I got OVTune. Solved all my problems and made the truck way more enjoyable! Definitely worth the money. Matt now provides a “gear lock” option as well, which was not available when I had that truck.

The shift points were spot on, and having more low end power/better mpg was quite nice as well.

After the TSB on my 16, cruise control is still as useless as two tits on a bore hog. Continually searching for what gear to be in.
