a good pistol I suppose is a decent all around sd gun but for HD you can't beat a shotgun, close quarters with #4 buckshot or heck even #4 turkey load (since the shots will be inside of 20 ft) done. a 9 mm has 1 piece of lead moving ~1100 fps, a 12 ga #4 buckshot 2 3/4" has like 20 pieces of lead (6mm or .24 inches in diameter) moving at the same speed, with a total amount of energy tripling or more that of a 9mm

If you don't have kids or someone in your life you might need to have a hand free to control, grab, move to a different location I 100% agree the shotgun is a great hd weapon. But having a hand free would be important to some.

my wife use to tell me all the time when she heard noises in the house that I should go check on it. I told her, there is a shotgun in my corner and in your corner, if that noise decides to come in here with us, may God have mercy on its soul because we surely wont. them hallways and door entrances make for fantastic funnels

I agree, but so is .223. And I live by myself so nobody else in the house to worry about.

Yeah my house has a good layout for home defense. To get to me and/or my dogs they have to go upstairs and down a small hallway. My dogs will alert me in plenty of time. I'm extremely accurate with my 9mm from 30 yards. I can shoot the length of my house with it before they know where I'm at.

My abode is booby trapped. So unless Indiana Jones is out for blood, I'm good.

I would think a location other than Hell on Earth would be your choice on a warm day. :notsure:
