My truck had it done back in 2009 when it had around 10K now Toyota wants to do it again and it has 94K on it. Ok with me but it will take time to settle again. I haven't had any problems. Has anyone else had to do a second recall on their springs.

No, I don't. My service advisor just told me that it is a current recall that's open. I imagine it's for all 2nd Gen.

I just called my Toyota dealer here today about the recall , dont know if it was ever done on my 08'. Service rep said the springs are on national backorder, no telling when they would be in. A month, 3 months maybe 8. Just put me on list for when they do come in.

My Service Advisor called me today and suggested I get it done tomorrow because they just got a load of springs in today. Otherwise, I may have to wait because of the backorder.

If you are OK with the stock springs take them up on the offer. Fresh springs. One reason they are recalled is because they can break and puncture the gas tank. Probably happened to one guy but hey.

Exactly what he told me. I'm ok with anything new they want to give me. The stock springs have been fine for me so far. I have a heavy tonneau on the back so that will weigh them down a tad. I put 5100's up front for leveling.

Im sure you know this but with even a small load like that your springs aren't performing like they did when new. Guess it's a little inconvenience but maybe you could schedule it when you are getting your 90k service or something

The new springs have additional clips to prevent spring shift if a spring breaks. Go ahead and get them if you don't plan to upgrade from stock. When they did mine, it included new bumpstops also.

I did schedule my 90k service and he suggested to do the springs at the same time.

The first one wasn't a recall, it was a service bulletin. The service bulletin changed it from 2+1 to 3+1 leaves.
Like somebody said above, the recall is about the extra clips that hold it together. The new springs aren't any "better", except that when they break, they will remain in line instead of cutting into your gas tank.

I would have to tell them where to stick their springs! If you want new and better you're gonna have to pay for it. Worth very penny in my opinion.

Even so, it is probably still a good idea to take it in and get a free set of brand new OEM springs that you can sell for a few hundred on craigslist.

Not just that but let the dealer take the old ones off and put new hardware so if you then upgrade you won't have old/seized parts.

I know it's been addressed ad neaseum but when you have a lift that includes aluminum blocks on your springs doesn't the dealership look at you funny and then laugh when you ask them if they can do the recall with the aftermarket mod done?

That really would depend on the dealer.
Of course, if you had aluminum block lift on leaf springs, **I** would look at you funny.
