Ticking Noise Only At Highway Speeds

Hi all, curious to know if anyone else has had this issue before.

I have a 2017 TRD Sport 6spd manual. At 90km/h (~55mph) my truck starts a ticking noise. The ticking stays at a constant speed but will get louder as I accelerate above 90km/h. The ticking is slightly noticeable with the windows up if your hearing is in check. Driving with the front windows down the ticking is more noticeable than the wind noise. Driving with the rear windows down, the ticking is quieter than having the front windows down. The volume of the ticking noise is the same from side to side.

If anyone has experienced this before, I would appreciate the insight to the issue.

I listened and did not hear any ticking but it was also too short, maybe the speedometer needle is clicking as a few guys have had them sticking.

 

Check to see if you have any rocks lodged into your tires.

 

Screw in tire? Rock lodged in tire? That's what immediately comes to mind.

 

I figured it was a rock or screw in my tire right away so I've already gone ahead and changed back to all season tires, ticking still exists.
Re-uploaded the video for the entire length of my recording, ticking throughout the video but gets louder as I accelerate at ~24 seconds.

I've had that a couple times...sounds like a rock but ends up being a screw or nail...

 

Vehicle speed related or engine RPM related? Downshift and see if the ticking stays the same.

 

Tried that on my commute today, it's most definitely speed related and not RPM related.

 

I pissed off my friend once buy putting a tiewrap on the driveshaft of his truck.

 

Did you check the tires for screws/nails/debris?

 

Hmm...check CV shafts/boots maybe.

 

Yes I have, checked over my winter tires and the all season tires i just put on. Really wish it would have been as simple as a screw in the tire.

 

I was thinking the same thing, maybe one of those sticky labels peeling off and flapping around? Being optimistic, I know.

 

Have you checked for something wrapped around your drive shafts or front axles?

 

Yup, I inspected everything I could get my hand into on my lift yesterday while I changed my wheels/tires. Gunna see what the stealership has to say about it tomorrow.

Could something be flapping in the wind?? Mud flap, air dam, window trim, inner fenders. Crazy question but do you have a bug shield?

 

Could it be your block heater cord flapping around?
