Wish I could say the same. I just love when my machine has problems but my value stream manager says "if it's not an emergency, just run it!". Well isn't it my job to fix it? Guess not. Screw it! Haha

Stack some work orders. That usually gets my bosses attention.

It seems as if "pro active" maintinance is pretty common in most large plants today.
The burden usually lies on the operator to fix and keep machines running.
I do what I can to do that. With that being said....you can also get in some deep shit if you fubar something up while "self repairing" a machine. A fine line here where I work.

    Bandaid, after bandaid, after bandaid.

We have some serious machines on the floor that cant hold .3000. Some are from the late 60's.

I try to fix my machine the best way possible. My former value stream manager has actually cussed me in the past for fixing my machine the correct way because it took slightly longer than rigging it unsafely. Also, when that happened, he also had the nerve to tell my entire line in a meeting that I directly caused them to have to work 12 hours of overtime and called me directly by name when doing so.

That is bullshit! I would have walked out going directly over his head. That is rule number 1 in my book: You never yell at or demean a employee in front of coworkers!
As for working on your own machines, years ago I had to remind a supervisor that he was not maintenance and by trying to be, he cost himself (the line) a load of downtime because I had to undo his cobble mess.

Oh I've had to do that plenty times. And let's just say, that filter in your head that makes you bite your tongue, for some reason I didn't come equipped with that. So therefore, I went off the deep end for about 30 minutes and walked away to do my job. Me and him have gotten along fine ever since believe it or not.

Also tonight my new value stream manager decided to disrespect my right hand man and tell him that his was directly negatively effecting everyone's livelihood when he literally and legimatelt did absolutely nothing. And I again, fell off the deep end.
