Hi, I recently purchased my first truck. 2013 2WD Reg. Cab. I heard the Bilstein 5100's are great replacements, improve the ride quality, and can level the truck by raising in the front.

The question that I have is will these shocks fit the 2WD base model? I keep seeing the fitment stated is for "Toyota Tacoma 4wd & 2wd PreRunner"... since mine is not a prerunner, will the 5100s not fit?

Thanks much.. just breaking into the truck world. Came from a miata :)

Do you have 5 or 6 lug wheels?

There's a list of the ones that will fit. Nonadjustable ones are for rear, adjustable for front. Other models too, but 5100 is the best bang for your buck.

5 luggers have ENTIRELY different front and rear suspension setups vs 6 luggers.... 5100's will not fit your truck.

Okay - thank you all for your quick replies and input. Looks like the 4600s that were kindly linked above are the route to go if I'd like to switch the shocks. The truck only has 25k miles on it - the shocks aren't going out, but the ride quality feels awful. I realize it's a truck, and will not ride like a sedan/coupe - but I've been in other trucks and they don't feel like this. Just feels extremely bumpy with no damping - bounces a lot. Do you all think the 4600s would make a noticeable difference in ride quality? Thanks again.

    Tires brand, size, pressures?

Any other mods to suspension or truck?

I run 235's on stock wheels, stock suspension and it's fine. (5 lug like you). That gives a literal 1" lift.

If you think suspension is a need, call marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and let her set you up.

Our 5 lugs have limited options. Not that that bothers me, as it does all I ask of it, and I don't care to disrupt the benefits of the engineered rake by leveling and all that.

When I had my 5lugger reg cab I put 4600's all around and found it to drive a lot better. Everything felt more firm and less body roll. I also upgraded to wider tires which made the truck corner 100x better than the stock setup.

I had the stock wheels on there and had this issue. I put some aftermarket cragar soft 8s (15x8) with 235/75/15 as well, which actually made it seem a tiny bit better with the bigger tires - but still too rough. No other mods, just a URD shortshifter. Just curious if the 4600 Bilsteins will provide a better ride quality over stock.

Awesome! Glad to hear from personal experience. Yeah - when I put the wider tires I noticed I was able to corner more comfortably as well. While it felt more firm - it was still a comfortable and smooth ride yes? Not too stiff?

It was a hell of a lot better than stock but at the time my stock shocks were starting to leak. In the end of the day it was still a little stiff over certain terrain but I think that was mostly because of the short wheel base of the truck itself, I think with your tires it would be more comfortable since yours have a lot more sidewall than my setup did (255/55/r18)

Great - looks like I'll order them today. Left the springs/coils stock yes?

Isn't my link correct? They make 5100s for many makes/ models - not just 6 lug Tacomas

If you click 'show all series' under your link, the only available options are the 4600. If you click on the 5100 specific link, nothing comes up!

    Thanks:)
