Help with synthetics

    Need some help...

    I have recently switched to Amsoil XL 5w-30 "synthetic" motor oil w/ a OEM Toyota oil filter. I am ok with my engine choice; now for the rest:

    Differential - I have a Detroit TrueTrac installed and it calls for petroleum/mineral based gear oil. Can I run synthetic gear oil (Amsoil severe gear)? Eaton claims synthetics decrease torque and may result in chatter? What is the best type, weight, and brand of gear oil to run w/ my set up? What about Lucas heavy duty gear oil?

    Transmission - I would like to go with all Amsoil synthetics can I run synthetic ATF fluid? What is best for our transmissions synthetic or petroleum based. What weight ( I live in Florida)?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    The TruTrac is a mechanical LSD. It won't chatter. The Amsoil will be fine in the rear diff.

    I am not sure about the tranny. I think I saw a member using it in a second gen but I can't be certain,

    I have never heard of them failing. I have only heard of users loving them. They seem to be one of the top choices for Tacoma owners wishing to upgrade.

    They are very low maintenance too. No need for an additive like in the OEM LSD.

    The TrueTrac is completely transparent during normal driving conditions. When activated you can definitely tell its there! Love it....great upgrade.

    Think I will be staying with OEM Toyota gear lube.
