Conventional wisdom say ubolts are a one time deal. The threads spread or something. Did the kit not come with new ones?

I did when I added my AAL on my first gen, I can't imagine the 1/4-1/2 inch the AAL adds will make that big of a difference.

Most would agree, should get new u-bolts if you can, but if the old ones will work and have a safe amount of thread left for the bolts to go on, then you'd probably be fine. Just make sure to tighten them evenly as you go, get them to 75 or 85 ft.lbs.(iirc) and check them again in a week or so of driving.

If there's an excess of thread now(stock) say at least 1/2", you should be alright. If when threaded on and torqued down, the threads don't become flush or protrude from the u-bolt nuts, I'd recommend getting new ones although the old ones might be safe to drive with carefully until you can get a new, longer pair.

Yes, you wont need longer U-bolts until you add progressive AAL, lift blocks, or new leaf packs.

Lifting is a slippery slope. You may want to gain some ground clearance with a U-bolt flip kit, then add a set of high-performance bumpstops (as good as they get before going with hydraulic bumpstops): [IMG]
OEM U-bolts can be reused per FSM. Some aftermarket U-bolt kits come with stover lock nuts which eat into the threads; those often are not reusable.

Very good info, I would agree on doing this as you may want to do it eventually anyway if you plan on offroading.

I'm using the stock ubolts with a single leaf AAL. Decent amount of threading left.

Good to know. I've just replaced them on my older truck but has an Allpro lift on it. Makes me hesitate anytime I have to pull the axle or change a leaf . Threads are definitely jacked.

I'm waiting for my new ARB ubolts before I remove the blocks and install the AAL. But that's because all I have are extended ones.

... which seems low to me.

Emailed Headstrong and Marie said that the stock ones are fine. People don't usually order new ones with the single aal.

I agree, I talked to a few suspension manufacturers and shops that have said 75-85 ft-lbs would be ideal for the U-bolt torque setting.

Just curious - which single AAL did you go with?

Deaver single AAL. Had the lift wheels and tires installed today. I think it rides great. Got at least two inches lift in the rear.

Awesome, thanks. I wish there was a leaf out there that would only lift the rear like 1" or so. I just did the 5100s on my '08 DCSB set to 0.85 and the front lifted way up. I also replaced the strut mounts and did the 1/4" spacer on driver side, which may have led to a bit more lift up front. I didn't expect to come out nose high, but I'm about 1/2" higher up front now and want to slightly pop the rear up since had it aligned already. Thanks!
