We should be burning CNG. This is stupid to export all (most) when we could be using it. It's clean, it's cheap.(I know.....Big Oil will jack it to match gasoline, can't help that) mileage will actually suffer but Clay, how clean does big truck crankcase oil stay when burning it.

My good buddy has the new Colorado with the duramax, 4x4, 4 door, short box. He loves the truck. 30-32 MPG freeway and 22-24 around town.

The problem is the infrastructure is not there to support CNG fueled vehicles.

The issue isn't bad mouthing Toyota. The issue, if you wanna call it that, would've been posting up the chevy specs and thinking "I'll show Toyota what the people really want and they better acknowledge us", lol. I understand the sentiment, I guess, it's just that 'it' doesn't really work that way.
My post wasn't anything personal against anyone or for anyone.

I bought into the Toyota is superior hype. They do make very good vehicles, but I've owned a lot of Chevy (GM) vehicles over the years, most with very high mileage, and I've had issues with my toyota's that I have never had with my GM vehicles. Also vice versa. Toyota issues: Axel seals, wheel bearings, dash lights, clock spring, pinion bearings, front diff bearing, FRAME (one got replaced one didn't qualify), O2 sensor, and other wear items. Not complaining about these items, but to sit there and call GM products junk for some issues some people may have had in past experiences would be no different than me calling my Toyota a piece of junk.

I have a '92 RCSB Z71 that I've had less issues with than my 2004 or 2005 Tacoma with far less miles.

    My $0.02

You know production companies don't control the cost of fuel at the pump right? And yes natural gas is stupid cheap, in fact it's so cheap, and in such little demand, that many production companies burn it off at their well sites rather than go through the hassle or transporting and producing it. The nice thing about CNG is we are the Saudi of natural gas, we have gross amounts of cng reserves. The demand, technology, infrastructure etc just isn't there for it yet.

I would not put a Chevy in my driveway if it was free. People are so quick to forget about them sticking their mangey paw out for a bail out after building what amounted to three decades worth of shit product. The resell is also not there because GM is once again addicted to crazy incentives to move trucks. IMO GM is a company that should have been flushed straight down the toilet while we had the chance. If the turd gen doesn't get ironed out there are plenty of nice 1st and 2nd gen trucks to pick from. Then again I'm not about impressing neighbors that I don't care about with shiny metal

I want anything that will create a competitive market for toyota. They have been at the top for far to long without any direct competition.

The got complacent and gave the loyal tacoma fans a turd. I hope this will drive them to make a better truck in the 4th gen.

    1. DEF is roughly $10/2.5 gallons at Walmart.

    2. With Ford introducing a diesel later this year in the F150 (best selling vehicle in the world), you can bet that diesels are about to become more popular (provided its a good one).

    3. There's a good chance the EPA (or CAFE) won't be nearly as big an obstacle before long.

I will agree with Itchyfeet that I steer away from GM ever since the bailout.

Just priced it online and its a pretty scary good deal with all the incentives. You can be OTD for the top of the line ZR1 for around 40K

All while being the number one car company in the world! They were to big to fail but they did and our tax dollar saved them. The way I look at it, they got my money and I did not have to buy a car from them. No thanks to GM products

I'm sure the quality improved, but my parents bought two decades worth of trash from them new and it seemed like every vehicle with the exception of a 1983 Chevy Caprice was a huge pile of dog turds. No joke I still remember them having two GM vehicles under warranty in the shop at the same time for major repairs. It wasn't till 1991 when they started buying Toyotas and Hondas that they realized how much money they pissed away in the name of being "patriotic."

Times change. If you don't realize that you have a lot of growing to do. Brand loyalty will only last a generation or two, if Toyota rests on its past success they will soon find themselves playing catchup to GM in the midsize truck segment. If it wasn't for Tacoma's crazy high resale value I likely wouldn't be in one.
