What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Like someone else said just use

$7 3m VHB 100x200mm~ (4" X8") Double Sided Foam Adhesive Sheet Tape 5952 Automotive Mounting Industrial Grade Very High Bond 5952 (1 Sheets 100x200mm)

3m VHB tape. I actually used the 3m stuff like sold at lowes/HD/hardware store which is called "Extreme Mounting tape" which I think is either VHB or very very similar. RTV ain't gonna cut it, that's more of a sealant adhesive than a sealant/adhesive. Plus with the tape it makes it relatively easier to remove down the line if desired. My large aluminum letters have been stuck to my grille for about a year now and still holding like cement.

 

Which side? Driver or passenger? Either way both have a 3/4 maybe 1inch grommet towards the upper third if the firewall. On passenger side it's super easy to identify, on driver side if you have the vacuum booster it's sort of hidden slightly behind it, otherwise if you have electronic booster it's sort of rearward of the brake fluid reservoir.

You'll have to snake it down the dash on either side. And once you pull the grommet you need to punch a hole in the carpet layer directly behind it.

Way easier imo than the large main harness boot.

Ended up going with that, but it is holding up pretty well but i will be getting some nice epoxy to actually glue the mesh to the grill!

 

Does anyone know how to take out the dash faces (both radio and surrounding silver facing)? Looking into possibly vinyl wrapping them black

Anyone know a good place or site for lug nuts? I could tell that mine were about warn out when I took them off to do my brakes a few weeks ago.

You have the factory lugs? How did you determine that they are worn out?

 

cussed at the rust on the strut (yeah i said strut) mount nuts

 

I stripped a couple and it seems like there is like a plastic cover over them and it's slipping whenever I tighten them. I mean 226,000 it's probably time for some new ones right?

 

they have a plastic cover???? mine don't..... but then i have 5 lugs and a steel rims

 

I want one but I'm not trying to fake the funk. Wish they had SR5 option or just the T Truck icon
