That makes sense. I heard the southeast distributors put a lot of add ons on the vehicles at the port that the dealerships have no control over.
My cousins live in Atlanta and claim nearly all the Toyota dealerships have the clear coat film and fabric seat protection on every vehicle.

Yep, I believe a completely independent entity from Toyota and the dealerships in general (or they are a consortium of dealers). I wonder if someone in the SE or GS toyota market can even order a bone stock tacoma like you can do at regular dealers, or is there always something added on?

...^^^... I am in the ATL area and see the dealers often and yes, almost all SET hot sellers have that BS 3M Plastic all over the fronts and Toyota Guard too.

We call it the ... "SET Cartel" ... you have to order here to get around it.

In '81 I come to this country and one week later I was washing cars for a Lotus dealer in National City south of San Diego. I remember the Europa model was
at that time $78,000 and once in a wile my boss will come to me and say: Vic we have to go to the Bank, take your time boss, take the rest of the day off, we'll be OK here.
Drop everything and come with me, Turn out and it happened a few times, somebody bought a car with cash. Now my granddaughter finished college, but first time I went to her bank to deposit $100,00 in her account, when I handed the lady one hundred dollar bill, she didn't take it. Aren't you a bank? I can't make a deposit with cash? No,
period. Go figure what 35 years brings.

The $36,722 (sticker) with the San Diego CA tax is $39,659.76 alone w/o title and licensing. my OTD (including TTL) is $38,500.

In CA, a good deal (to me) is sticker price being the OTD price which translates to about ~10% off MSRP.

Yeah in SoCal they really dont budge here its crazy like pulling teeth. and they kinda didnt like the fact that I only had to borrow 8k and when paying extra a month it goes to the principle I got it paid off real quick and only ended up paying like $160 in interest to there finance.

so i guess i didnt get a good deal lol

    I tested drove a TRD double cab Off Road, auto, White,long bed this morning;
    $40,185 ish
Premium & Technology Package with options- not the JBL, I don't want the moonroof.
    V6 tow package.
    Predator Tube Steps.
    chrome locking lug nuts.
    Delivery bah bah bah

I did offer $30K for this one ^^^.

It's a nice truck but wife is almost 6ft, Son in law is 6.3ft tall not sure either would want it sit in the back seat.
Dealer found a silver one with just the towing package for $37K but the color won't work.

I think the costco price changes based on location and dealer. My particular location/dealer agreement was for $200 below invoice, plus I got lucky and negotiated a little lower. I did have a trade-in so I don't know if that influenced the deal or not...probably did.

How much did Santa Clarita give you off MSRP?? I mentioned the costco auto buying program and it was basically a no haggle automatic $1,753.51 off MSRP. but he wouldn't budge any more than that.

Yeah when I think of it I think I actually got jacked because when I test drove a blue Tacoma and gave an offer of the 38 OTD they didn't agree so left that day and came back the next day and they said ok for 38 but when I got home all excited I never thought to look for the sticker that they hid in glove box until later and realized it wasn't the same truck I test drove originally (it was a different Blazing blue TRD 4x4 OR) and price I was working on. But over my excitement of getting my first Tacoma I didn't double check before taking possession. So they got me good I guess.

Curse these slick dealerships! Don't feel bad I got the shaft too. My dealer refused to go below the internet price.

Geez that is a pretty shady bait and switch there! But its all relative-- I dont have tons of money but I also dont have time to haggle over every little penny anymore. Just give me an honest dealer with a honest price that makes them some profit (hell, I get it, and no way if I was in business would I take a loss on a product), and Ill buy. Now if they try to slip something in there all sneaky, thats when I walk.
