What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Any idea how ES compares with Whiteline? I've heard that Whiteline is better, but haven't seen it discussed much. And I don't know about pricing differences. Never looked into it.

 

I been doing the big stuff one day at a time
Still need leaf springs done and control arms

Saved those for the last haha

 

That sucks. When I called ES and ordered directly they sent me the 26mm sway bar bushings. Obviously too tight.

 

Have not heard of white line yet so cant answer that
Just been using ES for all my cars
And been happy

The whitelines are worth it for the LCA bushings because they are already sleeved and don't require you to burn out the old rubber bushing and reuse the stock sleeve. The ES design is poor in that respect but that's why they are much cheaper than the Whiteline.

Sounds well worth it. Is Whiteline worth it for the majority of bushings, or just LCA and w/e select other ones?

 

They don't make most of the others for the tacoma. Even the ones we use in the LCA are technically listed for the 4runner but since the 4runner uses the same parts there it works well for us too. They may have sway bar bushings now.

 

So Whiteline for LCA and ES for w/e else seems the way to go. Gotta strike that balance of quality and cost. I'll get to bushings eventually.

 

I'm not so sure about hard poly body mounts being any better than worn rubber mounts. But the ES seem worth it for the steering rack. I don't have a sway bar so that one is moot. Whitelines for the LCA and uniball uppers all come with poly mounts of some sort. My leafs and shackle hanger all have poly bushings. So that's probably where is stop too. I'd want normal rubber for the Body mounts unless I was trying to get rid of the cartilage in my lower back.

 

Where are you locating the 2nd battery?

Never thought about body mounts. I haven't a clue as to how those are even changed. I bet newer ones would improve the ride. Rubber does make sense for those for sure.
The bushings you mentioned are pretty much the bushings I had in mind. I'd like to do them all eventually, but frankly they aren't high on my priority list.

 

Thanks, I got the relay at a really good price so the biggest cost will be the battery
