I don't handle confrontation well, as an old fart I realize that. I tend to get too mad for the situation. I waited a few days to think about and I was still thought they wanted to get their monthly quota. They should put the customer first.

So get your ass back in there and let them make you a satisfied customer. It's their job.

You drove away excited and happy.

You emailed him later saying you were upset and making demands.

    He flat out said "No."

Now you are unwilling to personally confront anyone about it.

Respectfully, sir, I gave you my opinion and you're even him-hawing around that.

I would take a sick day or vacation day an go get it done.

As far as picking it up when you didn't want too. That was your choice. I would have told them that I had to work that weekend or work over during week.

The lesson here is don't accept a vehicle that isn't ready. I bought a used car last summer that needed a little work they agreed to perform. I went there twice when it was "ready" and they hadn't done everything I had asked. Salesman tried both times to get me to sign the paperwork and he would write up a work order to have it done at my convenience. Noooo way was I doing that. Third visit it was all done and I was a happy camper.

Obviously you like the truck, because you didn't walk away from the deal, so why sweat an extra trip to the dealer? Hell, you could probably just schedule it at the same time as your first oil change unless you're declining the free toyotacare.

The starter takes all day because they send it out, but maybe I could coordinate that with the 5k service. Thank you.

The dealer clearly owes you something for your inconvenience. This should have been hashed out when you picked it up but it wasn't. So now if you want compensation you need to go get it yourself.

Otherwise it seems like you're asking "Should I let my wife or some stranger drive my truck?"

I'd go with some stranger. I've seen how women drive.

Well with all due respect sir, if I was your wife, and our conversations went like this, I'd probably smash your truck into a tree...

But to each his own! God bless you, your wife, and good luck with the situation.

An extra year of warranty is a little much. How about a realistic freebie for the slight inconvenience of having to drive 30 miles. A free service or two seems like a more realistic approach. Or, go with the completely hassle free fix the dealer offered and they can come pick it up. There's plenty of people here who have had their truck driven by others, don't really see them complaining about their truck blowing up after. If it does, even better. Order a new one and don't pick it up until everything is installed.

I still do not understand how 30 miles is a inconvenience... Shoot, to go see a movie I have to drive ~30 miles

WOW!!! not to be rude but this is not a BIG deal at all, I work at a dealership and see this type of stuff ALLLLLL the time. Sales and or the salesman needed a sale to hit their number for the month who cares if it wasn't done you might of helped your salesman hit another bonus which helps him and his family! I work in parts and currently have 2 customers that are waiting on a remote start kit and they have been for a couple weeks, both of them were completely understanding that our service dept. is backed up and were happy when we said that we would give them a loaner or pick up the vehicle. Also you stating that you don't want anyone to drive the vehicle......what about the tech, that did the PDI or the state inspection(if you have one), what about when you take it in for service? You don't think your truck gets driven? There are many cases where our techs drive customers vehicles home for the evening or to lunch to make sure said problem is fixed. I honestly don't see a big deal at all, maybe it is because I work in the industry....Just my opinion.

I never even thought about not taking the truck. I had my Tundra for 13 years so I rarely deal with this sorta thing.

I agree with this statement...why even put trust in the dealership if you are that skeptical of them commuting your truck for one trip? If you cant trust their driving skills, I wouldn't even consider taking to them for tech related issues/installs.

On a side note, just wanted to say this has been a joy of a read this morning. Consistently motivating/humorous posts...keep it coming guys!

So if they "send it out" someone (stranger) is going to be driving your truck anyway.

This. I don't see any reason for them to give away a warranty extension, sounds a bit like you're reaching. They offered to pick the truck up, you said no. You also don't want to take the truck in yourself. What else can they do? Sounds to me like it's time to man up and take the truck in, whether it's you, your wife, or your neighbor.

    This.

OP had a hand in creating the situation he now finds himself in. Dealer called and wanted him to pick up the truck before it's ready? So what? Should have told the dealer he'd pick it up once it was ready.

Heck, truck gets driven all over the dealership by porters even without sending it out somewhere. Check your dashcam footage after a service visit. :D
