Trade in my 04 taco for...

Ive been thinking lately about trading in my 2004 DC taco for a 2 gen DC taco.
What do you guys think?

 

I was thinking the same... but, mine is almost paid off and I'm going to wait until this whole recall thing blows over! We may get some pretty good deals after this thing is all said and done!

 

March is going to be the month to buy!

 

I say do it! IMHO Get a newer, bigger, better truck.

 

No. 2nd gens are ugly compared to 1st gens.

Feb. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Toyota Motor Corp. is considering longer warranties and cash discounts to woo U.S. consumers after recalls that forced the automaker to halt sales of eight models, dealer executives familiar with the talks said.
Ideas being considered include warranties of as long as 10 years and rebates of thousands of dollars per vehicle that would start in March, said three executives from retailer groups with Toyota franchises. They declined to be identified because the discussions are private.
“Toyota has got to be aggressive on this,” Mike Maroone, chief operating officer of AutoNation Inc., the biggest U.S. retailer of the automaker’s vehicles, said in an interview yesterday at an industry conference in Orlando, Florida. “Toyota has to put a wall around its customers.”
Boosting incentives might help Toyota keep customers as it tries to recover from recalls linked to unwanted acceleration that included about 8 million vehicles worldwide. The Toyota City, Japan-based company’s U.S. sales fell 16 percent in January while the industry total rose 6.3 percent.
Mike Michels, a spokesman at Toyota’s U.S. sales unit in Torrance, California, wouldn’t comment about any planned incentives. Maroone also declined to discuss details of the plan.
Toyota’s American depositary receipts rose $1.05, or 1.4 percent, to $77.05 yesterday in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. The automaker has declined 8.4 percent this year.
Like Hyundai
In 1998 Hyundai Motor Co. offered an industry-leading 10- year warranty on the engine and transmission of its vehicles to neutralize consumer worries about durability. Hyundai said in 2006 it would continue the warranty at least through 2010.
The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, headed by California Democrat Henry Waxman, is among three congressional panels that have scheduled hearings on Toyota’s recalls and their handling by the Transportation Department. The hearings are scheduled for Feb. 24 through March 2.
Toyota won’t offer a new warranty program until the hearings are complete, said one of the executives.

I don't know man... first gen double cabs are awesome. I wouldn't trade it in unless either you absolutely had to, or were going to get a great deal.

Don't think I'd trade my '01 DC in unless I had to.

 

I love my '02 DC. It only has 55,000 miles, has been paid off for several years now and has never given me a lick of trouble in almost 8 years. All that being said, if Toyota gets aggressive with discounts and offers longer warranties I might be swayed to trade in.

 

I have to agree, although it's purely a personal choice. I recently bought an 03 double cab because I didn't want a newer model. I could have bought pretty much whatever I wanted, but I like the size and the looks of the 1st gen, and I like driving an older rig. It's not a classic yet, but they're sure hard to come by up here in the Pacific NW.

But you do what you want. Nobody's opinion on here matters

hahahah thats true. IDK, its just a thought. The only this thats holding me back, are the payments.

 

Man the 2nd gen is so much larger inside and out!! That's what kinda made me up-date! I am a big guy and now have over 33,0000 miles on the 2009 and it fits me well!

its worth more than theyll give you on a trade in!
and in the unstable economy itd be nice to know you have a vehicle thats paid off

 

last time I was in to p/u some oil plug crsh washers for my oil change the dealer offered my 16k trade in on mine... It's pretty damn tempting!

 

16k for an 03? ... sounds fishy

 

Not necessarily. Up north here, dealers are asking $19K for that vintage with well over 90K miles on them. It's absurd, but there must be demand cause that's not uncommon at all.

 

I thaught about getting rid of mine for a 2nd. gen as well, just bc it would be nice to have a larger truck. But I changed my mind bc these are hard to come by up here and Ive done alot to it in mods and im still paying for her. Oh Yeah! And they also look way better!

But I think once its payed off and I can afford a new Tacoma, I will be getting one. Maybe!

also here in florida 14k to 16k for a 2003 or 2004 is (very common)

they want alot of money for the 1st gen trucks. especially 4x4's

I got my 2004 prerunner dcab with 68k on it for 13,900. that was the best and cheapest price I could find. most 03-04's have over 100k on them and they still want over 14k. its crazy. I almost bought a newer frontier instead for that price. however, I love the 1st gen taco's

Ive even checked KBB and all that horse shit, and they bluebook around 15k. good 1st gens are hard to come by
