Locally 3rd Gen's are being traded left and right on Ridgelines and suprisingly at mass quantities for Canyon's. I was amazed to see the only 2 trucks in the pre owned inventory of a local Honda dealer, both 2016 Tacoma's.
After talking to a few mechanics and salesmen people are trading 3rd Gen Tacoma's like there is no tomorrow and the inventories are showing it. I found one large Toyota dealers site locally have 4 2nd gens and 3 used 3rd gens. For a truck thats been out for two years vs. one for ten you would think the ratio would be much different.

    Is anyone else seeing this?

I see a lot of 3rd Gens on the car lots where I'm at. But I see them at Chevy and Ford dealers, so I think a lot of people trading up (or for Colorado). Especially for the cost.

I was looking at getting into a new 3rd gen from my 1st Gen, but after reading all the complaints in the 3rd Gen section I decide on a used 2nd gen. IMO the 2nd gen body looks way better. Sure the headlights had an upgrade, but the overall look just didn't appeal to me. That interior on the 3rd Gen though, that is a different story. Luckily I found a 2nd Gen with a real nice interior.

In my area, Southeastern MA, there are a few Canyons/Colorados and very few Ridgelines on the road. Tacoma's are still the most prevelent mid-size truck here. I don't see that many used 3rd Gens on the market as well.

I'm hearing complaints also on some of my other sites. However, per your title, I'd rather drive base line Corolla than a Ridgeline. Perhaps even a minivan:anonymous:

Gentlemen, you need to understand that just because you see a new Tacoma at a Honda dealership it doesn't mean the truck was traded in on a Honda. All dealerships have used car buyers that hit all the auctions looking for clean late model cars and trucks. I've been to a lot of these auctions and a many of the vehicles are bank and finance company repos. I see it way too often...someone buys a car they can't afford, gets behind on the payments, the car gets repossessed, then sold at an auction.

Well... all the "ooooh, truck pretty" dimwits might buy a truck when what they really want is a car that *looks* like a truck. Those people generally should be sterilized.

Around Cinci, the only midsize trucks I see on the road are Colorados and Tacomas, I've never actually seen a Canyon on the road in person (even though I considered buying one myself). I had an experience with a colorado owner who said the only reason they didn't get a Tacoma was because they wanted to 'buy American'. He seemed distraught when I told him my truck was put together in Texas. I wonder how much that drives buying decisions, honestly. I feel the general truck crowd is more likely to have that 'must buy American' mindset

I like to call out Ridgeline owners when they refer to their car as a "truck". It's unibody, buddy.

Here in West Virginia and Southwest PA the Tacoma is still the most common midsize pick truck on the road for every Colorado or canyon I see on the road there are 3 tacomas you might see on the road. My local dealership has 2 preowned 3rd gens and 10 preowned 2nd gen for sale. Everyone in my area seem to like them or don't want to take the hit from trading it.
Also over 400,000 3rd gen tacomas have been sold already even though the 3rd gen tacomas only been out for 18 months, so a few hundred or thousands across the nation popping up on the used market is a drop in the bucket. Many consumers might have decided they wanted to trade up to a Silverado, Sierra, or F150 for more room and can afford to take the depreciation hit from selling it.

I am happy with my 3rd gen and I won't be trading mine until the 4th gen Tacoma comes out. I feel like this is another 3rd gen bashing thread.

Yes! This is true and many don't realize that Toyota pickups are more "American" than than most Silverado and sierras that are built in Mexico and the engine made in China.
I got bashed from my cousins for buying a Tacoma and they called me a sell out and I should have bought a domestic brand truck. They told me I am the reason jobs are going away because I bought a foreign brand truck. I told them my truck was assembled in San Antonio, Texas so the people there are getting overtime to produce these trucks and the car salesman at the dealership got commission to feed his family so how is that killing jobs?
They also got political and said only liberals drive tacomas which is the dumbest statement I ever heard. Liberals drive whatever they hell the want just like conservatives.

This thread is entertaining and a joke. Upset you didn't wait for a 16 OP? Cue the "I bought a 15 on purpose because it's proven and better" typical response...
