They make plastic caps or plugs for any size metal tubing. Should be able to find some on eBay or Amazon pretty easy.

    I bought 1.5" x 1.5" years ago.

If it was me most likely I would have just filled the opening with silicone I use that quite often.

had to fix my atv plow after this mega winter, I ended up hitting a couple burms of packed snow and Ice and bent the support bars. So I heated up the bars with a propane torch since I dont have a cutting torch and bent them back, welded a couple supports for the bars and one for the hook to lift the plow. I also welded another piece towards the rear that was ripped off sometime this winter. so now its not 100% straight but a lot better than it was.

There not a bad little welder for hobby type welding .

I will say those little two pound spools cause nothing but frustration in anything but decent spool guns

Read your owners manual I get so many of these between voltage ranges

After having learned to weld on an stick welder, and spending a little bit of time with a buddy's mig gun a few years ago, I had a project coming up (busted boat lift) that I decided would be better handled with a mig than the old lincoln 220 arc in the shop. So I did my "math" and figured a new used boat lift is about 1500, if I buy a new mig for the project than I'll really be saving money overall. Makes total sense in my head.

So I did some reading, and was starting to shop for a hobart when the lincoln handy mig showed up. Did some more research, and decided on the lincoln. To my surprise lowes had the best price, even compared to multiple online places I checked. So I ran down to lowes the other day and picked one up. Just got it out and welding today, and I am very impressed. Keep in mind that I'm not expecting this to do what a huge machine will do, but I was playing with scrap and was able to get decent penetration on 1/4". And they say this machine will only handle 1/8". So that means this will do 95% of what I'll be doing. And the welds looked absolutely incredible compared to what I can do with the stick.

So I'm very pleased with my new purchase.

Yes, I agree. That little rig is awesome. I think you are spot on in your 95 percent estimate.

First project done! got the boat lift back together. Welder is only advertised as good up to 1/8", but the smallest I used on this project was 3/16" and I had better penetration(and overall weld appearance) than I've ever gotten with the stick. Very pleased, and the "new" lift holds the boat! So I'll check it again tomorrow and make sure the boat isn't sunk. I keep telling my wife that we saved over a grand, after adding the welder and supplies up...she just rolls her eyes

Hey folks, I'm hoping you guys can help me out with a quick question.

I bought a used Lincoln 180, and I have been gathering all the other equipment of the last few weeks. I just noticed my regulator doesn't have a knob!

It doesn't look like anything broken, can I just replace the knob only? Or do I need to get a whole new regulator set up?

Is it broke or just missing? The knobs screw out completely with no damage to the regulator.

where did you buy it? is it new? I would guess you should be able to buy the part if its not broke off.

It looks like it's just missing. The threads inside look clean.

There is something in there, it looks like the knob presses down on it to adjust the valve?

I wonder if you can just replace it with a simple threaded knob? Not sure if the knob itself is integral to the regulator or if it simply presses down on a valve inside the regulator body. I'll check mine in a couple hours when I go home for lunch and let you know.

Worst case I might have an extra regulator with broken gages that I can scavenge parts off of for you.

prob what it does since it doesnt look like theres an individual adjustment. Pressure then releases when you take the knob out

Makes sense to me, but I'm not as experienced as some here so I figured I'd play it safe with my "help".:anonymous:

sometimes those items are reverse threads, just have to get the right replacement part.

Thanks guys. Im thinking I'll bring it into HD or to the welding supply when I pick up a tank. One of those two will hopefully have a knob I can use

    Well call me a dummy.

The knob was with all the extra tips and adapters inside the welder

Clearly it's a good thing I'm taking an intro to MIG class this saturday
