    Hi all...
I need to replace the engine in my 2007 Access Cab 4x4. I recently found a low mileage engine getting parted out from a 2014 4x4 for sale in my area. So...
I'm assuming (probably wrongly) that I can swap engines straight across. I'd like to hear from anyone who has either done this, or is knowledgeable in this area about what I should be prepared for, or if you can offer any tips!
Thanks in advance, I appreciate any info!

Bolt over swap. Very easy. For me at least. ;)

There will be some differences. I would guess that the engine would bolt up, but your 07 doesn't have the air pump. Having owned an 06, 13, and a 14, expect your mileage to drop a mile or two and some newer engines have different noises than your 07 such as startup piston slap. I would guess that there's nothing that you couldn't overcome taking parts from one to the other. Whether there's any difference in computer because of the air pump I couldn't say.

There will be computer differences with respect to the air pump.
But the good news is that this is solved by not installing the air pump. Just block it off.
Bonus: Your air pump will never fail.

Swap headers and no need to worry about the air pump.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I was mostly worried about computer differences but it sounds like it's not a big deal. I'm gonna lift the cab off to swap out the engine and tranny - I'll post pictures soon!

That'a a very good question. The original engine is still in the vehicle so I haven't done a full autopsy yet. The engine has 350,000km on it. Driving along the highway in December, the engine just stopped. I glided to the side of the road and switched off the key. The engine of course wouldn't turn over. There was oil in the crankcase, and the temp warning light never came on. I towed it to the dealership and they pulled off the oil pan. They couldn't say for sure what had happened without spending a lot of $$ so I towed it home and parked it in the garage. As soon as I get it out (hopefully this weekend) I'll get a better idea. I'm hoping I didn't do any permanent damage to the cylinder block or the heads. My gut feeling is I piled up a bottom end bearing.
I should also mention that this is my hunting rig, so it puts on lot's of miles in pretty crappy conditions, including cold starts in -40 weather etc. I was pissed when it quit, but it doesn't owe me a cent LOL

Which weight oil did you normally run in that engine?

I ran 5-30 as per spec. I used conventional oil not synthetic. I'd do an oil and filter change about every 7 to 8000 km... Okay maybe 10,000
