TORSPD: NEVR

I believe its either the front passenger wheel bearing, which is a stupidly easy fix, or its the pinion in the back diff. I'm leaning towards the rear diff, but Im going to set uo a GoPro in my front wheel well for the drive home tonight and see if its that. If its not I might just buy a new diff off of ECGS and throw it on the ole credito card to get it to me ASAP so I can swap it out before Pismo.

Yep its the diff. Zero sound from the front end. Although I did find a loose shock bolt, so thats cool I guess lol. Gonna take it back to the guy who set up the gears and installed the locker and see what he says. He said No warranty a couple times but 600 miles is a little ridiculous for something to fail.

Yep. Off on wednesday so Ill head over there and let him diagnose himself. We'll see what he says. I don't have really high hopes, since hes a crotchety old man lol. Probably just end up 2 day shipping an ECGS diff and install it and then go drive around for 2 days to break it in lol

 

Hopefully there is no damage, and it can just be relashed.

 

Diff problems suck. I know that feel.

 

Is that just tightening the bolt on the diff flange to the driveshaft? I watched a walkthrough on doing that but didnt feel I had the right experience to mess with diffs (other than just bolting it up) like that and didn't want to exacerbate anything

 

Best with a dial gauge.

 

Yep. I'm hoping he'll give that a shot, looks like a pretty easy and quick fix for a 4x4 diff shop lol. If hes got all the right stuff I dont imagine itll take all that long. Welp, fingers crossed for tomorrow .

In other news, the truck was fun to boost around in for a day lol.

 

Ok so the diff guy said nitro gears are crap and they just didn't balance perfectly. Sounds a little BS but he assured me the diff will not grenade. He said he stands by his work but not the gears I provided, so maybe next week Ill drop off my old diff and he'll provide quality gears and install them for free. I just have to pay for parts.

I dunno. Im gonna rock it in pismo and bring my stock diff in case it grenades, then Im gonna bring it back to him if it does and be like WTF, plenty of other people have zero issues. Will probably have him build the other diff with his parts to get a warranty and see what happens then

 

Sooo what are his parts?

 

A bearing kit and Sierra gears. I offered to pick up some Yukon but he said he prefers Sierra over Yukon or Nitro as they are cut better. He was like " they are a little pricier but worth it at $240" except I'm pretty sure that's about what I bought the Nitro gears for?

 

Gonna guess a straight stick and 2 ball bearings

 

Nitro's are what's in ECGS builds right?

 

Pretty sure Nitros are the most popular gear for toyotas.

 

Yep. I'm really tempted to just have him build one with his shit and then send in the fucked up one to ECGS and have them rebuild it correctly. That way I get a warranty from ECGS and he will warranty his shit, so I'm covered either way.
