those trunks should hold that grill...it may not close but you could just strap the trunk down.

on my kettle (which looks like that one) there is a "clip" that you put in each receptacle on the bottom of the grill before you put the legs in. If you flip the grill over (after you take off the grates), you can push in the little buttons on the clips and slide the legs out of the receptacle.

the weber will last longer. the finish on the weber is baked on porcelain enamel that isn't going to rust.

except for facts and all... i had a brinkmann smoker that was the same grade of material and finish as the chargriller in the picture. it rusted out in about 3 years. i've had a weber kettle for longer that has never had a cover on it and still looks brand new. it's been sitting out in the rain and weather since 2009.

also if you watch target at the end of summer, you can find kettles for $25-50.

I had an 18" kettle when I was single and when I got married I didn't have room for it because my now wife already had a decent gas grill we picked out together. I gave it to a buddy who didn't have a grill (I still can't believe there are people who live their lives that way) and got a 22" a few years later when we moved to a bigger house with more patio space. I always keep my kettle and WSM in the garage when I'm not using them but he leaves that old kettle out in his backyard uncovered 365 days a year. Sometimes its kinda hard for me to not say anything when I go over there but its his now, nothing I can do. To Weber's credit, the black enamel has faded but the metal hasn't rusted.

I guess I should expect that someone that has never grilled would also not carry a leatherman or pocket knife with an unscrewing tool :D

    Sorry, couldn't help it. Hearts.

i actually have the weber cover for my kettle, but it's not very good and won't stay on. i love my kettle and the point is that you don't really have to cover it. it's so well built that it will last 10+ years with minimal care. I clean out the insides about once a year.
