I know. That's how I got my truck for 32.2 instead of the 36.5 it listed at.

I would have needed too much off the used vehicle to be viable.

Also, the interest rate on the new vehicle and dealer incentives play into new as well. Besides, buying a used truck for anywhere close to a new truck with a full warranty is crazy IMO.

Resale will be high as hell if you get an off-road and never actually go offroad with it.

People are always looking for used but clean offroad Tacomas.

I'll be "that guy"...Why not consider a Limited? You literally get all the options for a few thousand dollars more. JBL, sunroof, heated seats, larger wheels, etc. If you shop around, you can find one for pretty close to the price of an OR.

    Dealer incentives on a Tacoma?

Interest rates are the same used/new here, anyway.

The TRD Pro... we love the hood scoop and the OK but expensive suspension. Its worth the $45K.

That's great negotiating. I guess the balloon has burst on 3rd Gen demands.

I see a whole row of them lined up at my local dealer, and he tells me he has a list of people wanting used 2nd Gens.

need to learn more about this stuff
It's a daily driver for me on freeway. I wanted the stiffer ride. Won't do any crazy off roading that the sport wouldn't be able to handle. I hate the black fenders on OR. So went with sport. Crawl control and locking rear were options I would never touch. I really think if you're not a hard core off reader, you'll be happy with either or. Will just be what you want on exterior looks.

I need a double cab to carry four people on occasion. I need 4x4 for New England winters. I need it to tow my camper (2,700 dry) and I need a cap with a rack to carry two kayaks and all of our camping gear.

I'm in Canada, though. Things are different.

I had my Taco stolen last week ...

... so I'm going with a 2015 T4R Trail when the dust settles next week. :D

    To try and simplify.
You could save some $ with a SR5 and get you a cap and other mods etc.. With the money you'd save by not getting a Off Road or Sport.

One of the main things with the Off Road is the rear locker, it's def gonna be better for sticky situations Off Road, if you think you may get into heavier Off Roading, then that may be what you want...
If you're unsure now and bought a SR5 say, but decide later you wished you had lockers, you can get some ARB ones later.

These trucks are all pretty capable to start, so you should be fine with which ever.

    And get the "tow package".

I just got off the phone with the dealer who has the silver Sport. He said he's almost certain he can get me the OR in silver for the same price. Fingers crossed.
Id rather not have white. We already have a white vehicle.

Silver would be better than white!
