Totally different bike. The '16 was a ground-up redesign and RV never raced that bike (not counting the Aussie SX last year, while still retired). Supposedly Tomac was struggling bad getting the bike dialed in, up until this point.

IIRC, somewhere around the 3rd or 4th race of the season they changed the rear link on the bike and he was quite a bit quicker. I believe it gave a higher rate so the bike could be more compliant over small stuff and still take the big hits. If you watch his bike over the faster whoops sections while he's skimming the bike still looks a bit out of sorts.

Yep. I think he mentioned something about that, this weekend. Whatever it was, it worked lol. That or in his head it gave him the confidence, which sometimes is all it takes.

Tomac has never struggled like most guys trying to make it to the big show. Eli's Dad is one of the best pro mtn bikers ever.
So let's just Eli didn't have to work hard and save money for his first dirt bike. Plus being a kid of superstar puts a lot of weight
on your shoulders to do good. Maybe he has the right team and bike and support to run up front for a few more years.

The accomplishments of his father has nothing to do with his ability on a dirt bike....

It does with the desire to succeed. Sometimes when life is easier you may not fight as hard to get to the top. :bikewhoops:

You should have a long motivational talk with Michael Jordan's sons then...

Detroit's track looks fun. Dungey looked good on the track. Tomac not so much. Let's see how the mains play out. :bikewhoops:

From watching all the heats I cannot fathom why Dungey chose position #2 on the gate. That first turn was an ass-pack central and I don't remember seeing any riders get through clean from the inside line.

Epically bad night for Reed, between the start and going over the berm I would've just parked it and got a beer.

Favorite track of the season so far. That was awesome. Nasty holeshots the whole night.

Pretty cool track. Tomac did what he does. I felt bad for Osbourne. That 1st turn was pretty rough, tonight.

What an epic night of racing! Good lord what in the actual fuck was Reed thinking? Honestly! Many curse words yelled at my TV tonight. But Dungey as usual handled that interview with more patience than I could ever muster.

Just watched the race, haven't seen the interview yet but the track didn't allow many good, clean passing opportunities or places to "give space" for blue flagged riders. I believe Dungey had Tomac's number though as Eli had several (ahem) errors or missed rhythm sections.

Couldn't agree with this statement more. To go from a 1.7-2 gap to more the 4 in a lap and a half had to be disheartening for Dungy. During the heats I was like "Tomac gonna run away with it again", during the first 3-5 laps "Tomac running awa....wait is Dungy gaining on him?" Then I got excited and then Reed happened.

Of course Dungy handled it like a professional, that's how he do.

All in all was a good race weekend, track was weird, almost Arenacross status. 250 race was legit. That points battle is gonna be another one that is going to go to the wire.

Seattle next up on the list. Wish I didn' have plans I would try and make that one (even know one of the owners of a 250 West team so i might have gotten some pit passes).

That Reed cock block was a surprise. Reed is like don't mess with my heat race bro.

That 450 lcq. Who didn't eat crap. That was one brutal track.

I'm a Reed fan but that was a total douche move. I don't care if RD 'called him out' in the heat or not. You don't pull that stuff when the 2 title contenders are battling on the lead lap and you are cruising around, being a non-factor in 16th. Lost some respect for him after that stunt. If that was RV, RC, KRoc etc he would've been booted off the track for something like that.

I don't know the rules on being lapped. I know the blue flag thing, but it's like a prius in the fast lane going under the speed limit. Kind of a dick move, but you can do it.

Blue flag you are to hold your line and then move out of the main racing line at the soonest, safest spot. He had 3 laps of charging hard and battling RD. I get it that RD isn't the best passer in history, and could be more aggressive, but still. RD shouldn't have to battle a lapper, period.
