Last night I installed my harness. Currently running factory bulbs. The cutoff line is sharper than before and the output looks alittle brighter.

Definitely worth the upgrade. I may stick to the factory bulbs for now.

I'm kind of struggling to figure out how / why installing the HD harness (whilst leaving the OEM bulbs in) would lead to a sharper cutoff line. The optics and the illumination source are still the same. Am I missing something here?

It appears sharper because it is more obvious due to more light output.

I've read through the whole thread and want to do this upgrade. However, the rally lights credit card issues has me concerned. Has anyone ordered from them lately and can say that there wasn't an issue?

@ARB1977 just ordered recently, within the last 2 weeks.

Rally Lights did switch credit card processing companies after getting reports of the issue.

Edit: BTW that is a lot of reading!

I don't know. I'm assuming I'm getting less current drop with the thicker gauge wire, more current to the bulbs.

It took about a week to get my harness. No issues with payment.

This thread is one of the reasons why I like tacomaworld. Highly informative, educational and pretty regularly updated.

This is a great, functional modification that is a legitimate upgrade with measurable results.

Thought I should commend OP since I'm using this post as bookmark for later reference...

You are likely conventionally switched. PM me if you need help walking through the test procedure. You can pick up a multi-meter at Harbor Freight for $5 to run the test.

I just finished this upgrade about a month ago, I am more than impressed! I was planning on an LED light bar; spread pattern and Light Force HID Mod for spots. I'm not really interested in doing anything else with lighting until I am done with other stuff at this point. I just drove 2000 miles to Montana and back, with the beams properly adjusted, you really do not need anymore light, even for most off-road applications! Every sign on the road was glowing like crazy! IMO, these things outperform any other light option available without compromising light pattern.

I have had experience with both LED and HID in the past with other cars. The light can be a high quality output if done right, but it has never seemed the same as halogen. I had an HID diving light maybe 10 years ago, after spending $400 on it, I ended up selling it cause I hated the light effect, it just didn't seem like the right application. If I stick with this setup and add the other lights as planned in the future, the HID will be great for 800m range, but I am going to be dealing with an amperage issue. That's kind of the only downside I see with using these.

Installed my harness today. My fuse wasn't seated very well apparently. I just plugged in the drivers side and tested. It worked. Then plugged in the passenger side and then they didn't work. Pulled the fuse and reseated and they worked again. Just figured I'd post incase someone had the same issue and it freaked them out.

I did this upgrade about a year ago and it's still going strong. Thanks, OP; you're amazing. If I hadn't seen this thread, I would have spent so much unnecessary cash on retrofits.
