That's okay. I hear there's a lot of beards out west. I'm considering a relocation there in 2018. The south has been terribly disappointing.

I feel ya there. getting fish slime and scales out of a beard is hell when you have to take ship showers everyday during the season. I usually knock mine down before each season and let her grow back out when its less of a nuisance. comfort at work takes precedence over what the woman thinks looks best haha.

I was shaving in middle school and had a full beard by freshman year BUT I was maybe 25% gray headed by my senior year in high school. The salt & pepper hair with the really black beard really didn't look all that cool. By early 20s all gray. It's a family thing on my dads side & kinda blows.

I have grown beards all my life since I was 20. Grow them for 3-4 month's a year and then shave them off. A few times they lasted 6 month but never longer than that. 5 years ago I started growing another one when my mom passed away. 6 months later after that I was devoirced . So I said, what the hell, I'm letting it grow. My mom and ex always hated my beards. I haven't shave for closed to 5 1/2 years now and only trimmed the length once. It is now 18" below my chin.
When I started growing my beard again, I was the only one with a beard out of 50 guys at my work. Now there is 27 guys with facial hair. I'm shaving mine off April 1st. I see beards more as a fad or "lm growing it because I'm so cool" statement. I'm not part of that crowd.

On the other hand, I'm 53 years old and have to get a hair cut every 3 weeks. But it's all grey. I'm happy with that.

I grow one every year for the winter months because it keeps my face warm when I'm working (or playing) outside.
I shave it off every year for the summer months because it keeps my face warm when I'm working (or playing) outside.

Been doing it for years, regardless of trends. Will keep doing it in the future, regardless of trends. :notsure:

And scott loves me either way, so I don't need to fret about how I look.

    Edit: See?

    VVVVVV

During the cold months I like to keep my face warm. NOT the same thing. Put that away.

"I shave it off every summer because it keeps my face warm" AKA "my wife tells me to. Whoever has a beard and gets pressure to shave it from others, one might consider getting people some new people in their life. I only shave if I feel like it. Try telling your wife/gf she needs to shave, and see how that goes.

    o_O

My girlfriend prefers me with a beard, slick. Her favorite is when I have a goatee. So she's not pressuring me to shave.

I shave during the summer because when it's hot out and I'm working outside the beard makes my face sweat. Sweat makes it itch. Itching annoys me.

Fair enough. You got to admit, lots of men feel the pressure, and fold. Keep fighting the good fight, sir.

I started dating a girl and on our second date she asked if I would ever shave that THING off. I told her I would for the right person. She then asked,"how do you know if I'm the right person"? My reply was,"I know your not the right person because you asked me to shave that thing off"! We did see much off each other after that.

I haven't been clean shaven since around 1979 or so.
Sported a Fu-Manchu for a while then beard growth for deer season. Now I don't bother. Beard all the time.
I'm 56, no bald spots and no grey up top. Half the beard is grey.
Shave my head around May, and let it grow till the following May. Easy peasy.

What's really interesting to me, is that women are typically the ones asking/telling men to shave or do hygiene related tasks that they prefer, and we are supposed to abide, or we get to hear about it. If men were the ones asking/telling women to do hygiene related things, we would still get to hear about it. What part of that sounds reasonable to you?
