37s are really really pushing our diffs. The tiny front especially. 35s are bad enough already.

Adding all that torque from the crawlbox + supercharger..you're gonna break a lot of shit.

a friend of mine has had 37s and the same setup, but with a front arb. been running it the last couple of years, this is the first year he had problems with the bolts backing out of the arb holding on the ring gear and destroying everything. hes also running lotus axle cv cages.

been talking with a couple friends about trying to build a front end using a toyota 8 inch rear elocker, a cut down housing, and custom cv axles

Sounds like a PITA to just run a big tire. Id look at just SAS it at that point.

Front Range offroad is coming out with a retro fit kit for 2nd gen 8'' clamshells. Might want to look out for that instead. can't run 5.29s if that is what you have but can get 4.88s.

trying to avoid sas, i did it on my 4runner and hated it. drove it wheeling once and sold it for my dcab.

i seen he had done that retrofit, i hadnt heard he was going to come out with a kit though. that would be my first choice of running that, and if i was ever to regear i wouldnt go lower than 488s anyways

your runing 37s on 4.10s??? :der: Damn..no wonder the crawlbox. haha

Yea he is supposed to come out with that and the 2.5'' LT kit this year..but who knows. I've been watching anxiously to see if it can be part of my build too. Price dependent. Considering all the custom shit involved im sure its a $1000-2000 retro fit.

haha no, right now im running 35s with 4.30s. someday soon it will be 37s though.

yea im sure it will be a spending item. but you have to pay to play, and the price of replacing weaker parts over time will add up to more than that so im sold

I beg to differ. Ok maybe not. I love how mine sounds. It is loud on the freeway. I just crank up the tunes.

And all this talk about 80 mph. I see myself doing 80 alot. With heavy as 33 MTRs and 15x10 steel wheels. She dont like it, but she does what she is told. Lol. Regear and lockers are next on my list. Will be done before summer is over

I am really gearing towards 35s and 4.88s as my daily. Farthest i drive is 50 miles round trip a day. Usually only 10 miles roundtrip on a normal day. After my regear and lockers i will probably do what paul had done and add twin sticks..

    Your thoughts on that monte?

When I installed my new retrofits I tried to aim the light housings since I was basically blinding everyone else. There was no visible beam pattern so I was just adjusting it randomly. I got frustrated and went back into the truck to turn off the lights, then I realized the damn high beams were on. I couldn't tell since the high beam indicator stops working when you don't have both factory harnesses plugged in. Once I turned them off it was a lot easier to see the beam pattern and adjust them.

I didn't have a flat surface and a wall anywhere near me to aim the lights, so I chocked the front wheels off and jacked the truck up on the rear diff. in my raked driveway and used a carpenter's level on the bed rail to see when it was completely level, lol.

I jacked up the truck to change the oil not too long ago and I noticed after removing the jack stands and floor jack when I was done they left some indentations in the asphalt. These things ain't light!

i just hated how floppy it felt to drive it. it rode ok and probably wheeled way better, but i never gave it the chance. i daily mine more than wheel it, and i feel it wheeling a little better isnt worth how a sas handles.

35s and 4.88s with the auto will be fine. Won't be as fun as 5.29s or even as nice really offroad. But 4.88s will still work fine. they will be perfect with your 33s.

But if twin sticks are a for sure thing at some point, i don't think you'll need the 5.29s offroad. Hard choice though. 5.29s will handle the weight of the rig and bigger tires much better.

I'd still say go for broke and get the 5.29s personally, as i love them and i get better mileage then i did with 33s and 4.10s. RPMS aren't everything, engine load and efficient use of power/torque is.

Think there are plenty out there though that drive 35s/4.88s. But i have seen some say they wish they had gone 5.29s..

But im not the only one...

    @jubei777 @alee891

And we have manuals..Your auto isn't as low geared so even at highway speeds you won't be as high.

You'll love it. And have the same facepalm moment im sure everyone does when they do it...why didn't i do this sooner??? haha
