    i think they de-tune the OEM HU in order to make the super crappy paper thin OEM speakers sound better. i did my system with a device that tries to take the crappy OEM HU signal and make it more 'normal' so that you get full sound out of aftermarket speakers. the de-tuning cuts out frequencies or something. anyway, the install was a pain in the ass and if i had to do it over i would go with an aftermarket HU.
