So my wife and I are sitting next to the pool here in Costa Rica watching the sun go down. she looks over to me and says how happy she is that we saved up and went on this trip. She then says we should saving up for something else fun like this. Apparently me responding with "well since you got to pick this out I think we should straight axle my Tacoma" was not the answer she was looking for:argue::pout:

So for all of you that are curious as to what I've been up to
Yesterday I went out to discovery bay and bought this gem 51209290076__9D3307DC-9299-44D4-A772-CF36EFBB43BC.jpg

    it is a 1972 Ford F-250 rwd
it has a 390 in it it is rough all around

the guy had it listed for 950 running and driving
I got there and it find out it hadn't been started in over a year probably close to two and it didn't even have a battery in it no less running and driving they got a battery that was too big and tried starting it ended up burning out the starter solenoid it would not start
We worked out a deal for $400 id come back today with a trailer and get it off his property by 10 this morning
so a buddy of mine in his Ford F350 went over there with a tilt deck trailer and used my winch to get the beast on the trailer
we took it from discovery bay to Livermore where another buddy is letting me keep it at his ranch to work on it we stopped at the auto zone and picked up about $300 worth of varies parts and fluids
we got it to the ranch and set up an easy up and get to work got the new solenoid in new battery in with new battery cables and connectors
then went to crank it over and it was coming up but not getting all the way over saw that the throttle assembly was rigged a little odd so i fiddled with that for about 10 minutes and then started to crank it my buddy sprayed a bitt of starter fluid into the carb and it turned over and then it ran steady
    it sounded amazing
we took it for a test drive around their barn (maybe 500 yards total) and it ran great it is super loud in the cab but it needs new interior everything new seat new headliner new dash new door panels new floor cover new steering wheel

tomorrow I'm going to change out pretty much all the fluid and probably power wash and debunk as much as i can

i was surprised that the brakes work and they work well I might add
the power steering is out but from the little bit I looked at the PS system it looks like it might just need fluid
every single light on the truck works except when I have the left blinker on the arrow on the dash doesn't light up
    the tailgate open and closes
the body panels all line up there are still dings and dents all over it though
it seems that it has been painted about 4-5 times always a different color with different over spray/ tape off spots

my plan for it is to use it as a project experience building truck
since I got a screaming deal I am planning on flipping this truck and eventually getting a highboy F-250 to restore
but for now I'm going to start restoring this one and possibly get it to daily driver status

so that is what I've been up to and that is the reason I will probably not be putting much money into the taco for a while

Both weights taken with a full tank and me in the truck (+/- 180 lbs).

    No gear.

Last weight was taken the night before I dropped it off at the camper fabricator.

Camper weighs 500 lbs. since I have 20 lbs of groceries in the truck. Not bad.

Springs handled 6700 lbs. and was still ass- high, so I've got room to grow. About 600 lbs of EAF fixins' and I'll end up 500 lbs lighter than the last combo.

    IMG_5373.jpg

Probably need to start a build thread to dump all this info.

    Overlanerd, your rig is awesome.

Those with little ones, may you never have to deal with a monster case of pink eye. Monday I'm woken up by my little daughter screeching in complete panic. Both her eyes were glued shut. Got her sorted and calmed down and wife got out of the shower asking wth? Told her the peanut has pink eye. She didn't believe me! I asked her if she ever had it. No... Me, many times as a kid. Rolled my eyes and called the doctor and her daycare. Going around in our area and half the kids at daycare have it. Shit woman! I might be a dorky dad most of the time (makes all my daughters laugh, have two more from marriage #1) but freaking believe me when I say baby has an issue. Pissed me off to no end.

    Thanks Kevin!

Sorry to hear about your little one. My girls haven't had the pleasure... yet. I think it's inevitable with kids.

Maintaining it would be the issue. I've partially abandoned my build thread on expo, but need to start updating it. Fielding questions and getting back to everyone is a part time job. Can we do build threads in the NorCal section? ;)

That sucks man, my kiddo has had the sniffles and reoccuring cough ever since we got him in to day care, just about everytime I dropped him off/picked him up I could hear some other kid sick, but the babysitter has a "no sick kids" policy (my ass). Kid has been staying at Grandma's for babysitting the last week and a half or so, wouldn't you know it, his cough is finally gone and the sniffles are almost gone. Its almost like if you're not surrounded by sickness, you get better. Granted, I know its probably better for immune system in the long run, but holy shite I'm already tired of him sneezing in my face and getting 4 lbs of snot dripping off my face.

Meh, just create the thread and update it like once a month like 90% of the other build threads. Do a mass answering to the 40 questions that were asked and call it a day. One word responses if possible.
