the clamps around the axle - is it just metal to metal contact, or is there a rubber pad or anything there?

Bought those for wifes Escape for $460 complete set. Looked as good as yours at first. Bought Clazzio for my Tacoma. Her CoverKing Neosupremes went to crap in about 4 months. Straps broke in 3 places and covers are loose as a goose. Will never buy those again. After a full year my Clazzio are still as tight as a glove. The Clazzio leather is only $275 and covers the entire seat for access cabs. No comparison in price and quality.

Thought you should know. I had high hopes for those. Color match was excellent and initial fit was good. Just did not hold up to getting in and out of vehicle. Wish I would have returned them.

Curious on how much of an impact it can take. I like the idea and it looks strong.

The cheap TRD badge I got on Amazon had the red and white plastic inserts fall out and the hardware was rusting. Used some paint pens to fill in the inserts instead of the plastic and got some stainless hardware (blacked out the washers). Not the cleanest lines, but you can't tell unless you are looking for it. Was going to use clear plastidip to try and seal it all in, but decided to see how it'll fair. Let it dry all night, installed today, and took it directly to a car wash.
