When moving from CA, you guys think I should tow my GF's civic on a dolly with the 4runner or ship it?

I'm curious... What did you use to unbolt the shaft from the diff? My sockets wouldn't fit in that space lol so I just didn't even start since I wouldn't be able to fit a torque wrench in there if I did get them loose. Guess that's the difference between a mechanic and a guy with only a tool bag to his name lol

Dolly will save you guys gas since it's only one car. I would do it just for the company alone

Well We'd either ship a car or tow hers. So then shipping mine is 1200 bucks and shipping hers is 800. But I don't think they'd let me throw the RTT on the truck to ship it.

I think shipping hers or towing it is ideal. We are riding in the same car regardless. I'd rather drive the civic for comfort and mileage, but my truck for camping

So you're not going on the cross country road trip anymore? Just coming straight here?

We are road tripping. Just in one car. We will do the whole route regardless of which car we have. Just would be slightly more fun in mine because we could go on simple trails. The civic would still be fun since we can still hike around moab and such.

Ahhhh ok I see what you saying now. What you. Could do is tally up your fuel costs and see if taking the T4R would be worth the extra money

If I can't ship the runner with the tent, we will have to drive my truck. We definitely want the RTT with us in SC. Beautiful places to camp

Fly me out to Cali and I'll drive the Civic to SC for $500 bucks. :cheers:You don't want to pull a car on a sight seeing trip across country.

Lol that would actually probably be cheaper!
Yeah plus we can camp a few nights on the trip and save some money there.

Huge vote here to ship it. Wife and I and several of her family members all moved to the Carolinas from SoCal over the last several years. All of us shipped one car, and did some sightseeing along the way.

Its also a little safer driving- not too much fun towing 2500 miles, etc.

Just started the electric smoker. 225°F for the next 16 hours so the familia can have my very first ever attempt at brisket and, for 8 hours of that, pork shoulder, that will be made into pulled pork.

    Wish me luck fellas!

And for the record I said fuck it and put mustard on both before seasoning lol. Turned out good when I did this to my pork roast a few weeks back. Should be ready by family lunch at noon Sunday.
